Inequality can't ever be a mere side-effect of a broader system; wherever it exists it IS the system. It's but another word for concentrated power & as such has ruled mankind over the entire span of civilization.

In his strongest condemnation yet of the Trump-Vance war against Iran, Pope Leo XIV said today: “We are surrounded by a delusion of omnipotence that’s becoming increasingly unpredictable and aggressive.” “We are met by threats instead of invitations to come together. “Those who pray don’t threaten death. Death enslaves those who have turned their backs on God and turned themselves and their own power into a mute, blind, and deaf idol. “They demand the whole world bends their knee. Enough of the idolatry of self and money! Enough of the display of power! Enough of war! “True strength is shown in serving life!”

Hundreds of millions of people throughout the world are immersed in extreme poverty. Yet, disproportionate wealth remains in the hands of a few. It is an unjust scenario, in the face of which we cannot fail to question ourselves and commit to change things. There is no lack of resources at the root of disparities, but the need to address solvable problems related to a more equitable distribution of wealth, to be achieved with moral sense and honesty.

Whether we choose to remain in NATO or not is still up in the air. Personally, I hope we leave the organization entirely. But I would make staying conditional on the presence of Spain. A simple "us, or them" decision. Spain is NOT our ally, and in fact has become our enemy.

@Carlin4USSenate Hedge funds & private equity, yes, they are massive problems. But low interest rate loans? How absurd to think a solution to housing affordability is to pay bankers yet more in interest & fees!

Did you know? Housing prices are up 45% since COVID, driven by zero-interest loans & investor dominance—35% of homes now bought by hedge funds & private equity! Future grads and young families, Jim Carlin will fight this trend - Ashley Hinson will not. #HousingCrisis #Carlin2026

@Thinker7777777 @Roshan_Rinaldi The top 10% of the US population own essentially all productive assets while the bottom 80% almost nothing. What's really meant when we hear it s/b the responsibility of the state is it s/b the responsibility of the asset-less 80%.

The White House deleted this embarrassing video. So whatever you do- * DON'T REPOST IT. * Donald wouldn't like it if you hit "repost." Trump: We can't take care of daycare. We're a big country. We're fighting wars. It's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these things.

@Uncle_Sam_Show @factpostnews It s/b managed at the local level but funding s/b nat'l so as to assure it's based on ability to pay. I don't have young kids anymore but it's the price I think we should all pay for a decent society. And taxes wouldn't have to go up if we just cut the war machine.

@JimPOReilly1 @factpostnews Why should MY taxes pay for YOUR day care? Keeping it local and pushing for local solutions is better for everyone. Push for local vouchers, zonings, and the things that CAN work, instead of yelling to a government too far away.

Day care might be a national issue, but the fix is local. The 10th Amendment is supposed to keep the federal government out of state and local affairs. This is why your local votes and issues matter. You can't look for the feds to fix a local problem. Get off your asses everyone and take it local! @JDVance #federalism #daycare

@RLHeinrichs Who benefits from talk about NATO's decline? Russia. China. People who push for it have no idea how much the USA (& Europe) benefits from NATO. Not just Intel and innovation, but economically hundreds of billions of dollars. Leaving NATO would mean mass unemployment in the USA

@RLHeinrichs Yes. If you're cheering NATO rupture, you're cheering American decline ---- decline, that is, in military spending & the grotesque power of the National Security State. And w/ reduced military spending, you're cheering a more prosperous & moral America & world.

The theology of this post makes total sense except the words “Imperialist occupation”, what is he saying here?!?!? Christian theology does not define that term or use it in this way. So, we have a communist American pope? Where does a nationstate end and an imperialist occupation begin? What size of land? What number of people? Are we suppose to go back to tiny tribes in constant war over land? Are we suppose to freeze country lines on a random date in history dissassociated with Christs time on earth? Is he saying he supports democracy but using communist terms to convey that? This post needs explanation.

The cross is part of the mission. The imperialist occupation of the world is disrupted from within; the violence that until now has been the law is unmasked. The poor, imprisoned, and rejected Messiah descends into the darkness of death, yet in so doing He brings a new creation to light. #HolyThursday

@gordonpwpa @simonateba What putrid right-libertarian bullshit! The so-called National Security State produces nothing but endless war and massive insecurity. A free people have a perfect right to care for themselves in a manner they choose. Peace & universal prosperity is the primary responsibility.

The constitution left social issues to the states. The constitution was created for a free people who could care fore themselves. Security is the primary responsibility of the federal government. Despite that, Trump would pay the daycare if the states would allow auditing. Otherwise the states should not ask for the money. It is totally irresponsible.

This is not 2003. In Iraq, the Arab world opposed the war. Today, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, and Qatar fight alongside Israel and the US against Iran. For the first time in history. When the entire Arab world says a regime must go, your NO TO WAR is not protecting peace. It is protecting the people who hang gay men from cranes, beat women for showing their hair, funded the October 7th massacre, and plotted to assassinate the US president.

The world, Europe, and Spain have faced this critical moment before. In 2003, a few irresponsible leaders dragged us into an illegal war in the Middle East that brought nothing but insecurity and pain. Our response then must be our response now: NO to violations of international law. NO to the illusion that we can solve the world’s problems with bombs. NO to repeating the mistakes of the past. NO TO WAR. lamoncloa.gob.es/presidente/int…

@GeriatrickGames @LeadingReport So if the fed raised interest rates, then mortgage costs would have been a lot higher. Buyers would just end up paying the bank rather than the seller. The housing 'market' is rigged & the only real solution is to end mortgage finance as a prime cost & to sharply regulate prices.

You can blame the federal reserve for lowering interest rates to near zero for 10+ years back in 2008/09 during the financial crisis. 2010 was probably the last time houses were reasonably priced, but the fed wouldn't have it. They inflated all asset classes to "save" the world. They also printed 13 trillion and took on troubled assets to their books during this time. There was also a huge government spending program to help back then. Remember "sidewalks to nowhere". Projects with govt money that made no sense were happening everywhere. This isn't any one president's fault. It is the fed.

It is this power & this power alone that has, for so many centuries, forced populations into endless war, lack of basic services, insecurity, poverty, & subservience. It flows from the very nature of concentrated power--always serving its ends by exploiting the less powerful. 2/

One of the most significant moments from the Trump Davos speech was when he said the quiet part out loud You cannot lower housing costs for young people without destroying millions in wealth for boomers "Every time you make it more affordable for somebody to own a house cheaply, you are actually hurting the value of those houses. I don't want to do anything to hurt the value of their house. If I wanted to crush the housing market, I could do that so fast that people could buy houses. But you would destroy people who already have houses." Our politicians are sacrificing people in their 20s and 30s for the prosperity of boomers Let that sink in
