@stevenmackinnon Enough. Canada Post is critical infrastructure. You need to end this now, then sort out the contract issues.

The special federal mediator has decided to temporarily suspend mediation between Canada Post and CUPW. After several intensive days of negotiation, his assessment is that parties remain too far apart on critical issues for mediation to be successful at this time. This pause in mediation activities will hopefully permit the parties to reassess their positions and return to the bargaining table with renewed resolve. I have requested that both parties meet at my office today. They will be told that, as in all disputes, they alone are responsible for the consequences of this conflict, and for its resolution. As soon as productive bargaining can begin anew, the special mediator will re-engage the parties. Canadians are counting on them to create these conditions quickly.

@ConsumerSOS What actually happened was BC repealed speed cameras in 2001 because of widespread misuse on major routes aimed at revenue generation, not safety. After 18 years (2019), they started introducing red light cameras at high-crash intersections, which is reasonable.

@JimSDouglas Then change the law and eliminate speed limits. That’s like saying people drink/drive at .08 blood alcohol so everyone should be allowed to blow at .10.

Question: why not put speed cameras/photo radar everywhere in the city if we are serious about speed? Reduce risk. Hold drivers accountable. (Cost yes, repayment yes). Probable response in comments: this is a tax grab, etc. unfair. Nonsense. No one makes you speed.

@ConsumerSOS When the flow of traffic is driving safely 10-15 over an unreasonably low posted limit on a non-residential street, and photo radar is catching everyone, it’s about revenue, not safety.

@DanKaszeta @MalcolmNance This is what Canadians have been thinking since 2016 when Americans say “if that guy wins I’m moving to Canada.” We totally sympathize, but it’s not quite as easy as moving between states; Canada is a whole other country with immigration rules.

@RachelBitecofer He didn’t expect to win in 2016, so he never planned for it. He had adult supervision then, which he’s dispensed with now. He didn’t understand the levers of power in 2016. The Supreme Court just crowned him emperor with none of those annoying democratic checks and balances.

Gabbard pick is the only one that surprises me so far. Not because she's a nut w questionable allegiances. Par for the course. She breaks the mold of term 2 appointees. the unifying theme of all the rest is ride or die 110% loyalty. Gabbard hasn't been in Trump's orbit that long.
