Thoughts... Bear markets are the mechanism that gives crypto its return profile. A market that never punishes would never pay. High upside exists only because the asset class forces investors to absorb periods of extreme volatility. Without that uncertainty, there would be no reason for the market to compensate anyone for holding risk. When prices implode, conviction shrinks faster than supply. That collapse in belief increases the premium investors demand for owning the asset. The premium becomes the foundation of the next cycle’s returns. If the pain were smaller, the payoff would be smaller. If fear disappeared, returns would too, because the market would price crypto as if it offered safety, and safe assets never deliver outsized gains. Every bear market resets expectations, clears excess confidence, and rebuilds the risk premium that fuels the next expansion. Crypto exaggerates this dynamic. Legacy markets can lose fifty percent and call it historic. Crypto can do it in a weekend. The speed and depth of these drawdowns widen the gap between those who want exposure and those who can stomach the environment. That gap becomes the yield investors demand for taking the risk. The losses are unpleasant, but they are structural. Without them, the industry would have no asymmetric opportunity. Crypto pays those who can stay functional when others exit.

The easiest way to see that there is no such thing as edge is to watch all the meta gods once the meta ends. The advantage they seemed to have disappears instantly. This isn’t a dunk, it’s a lesson. Their “edge” was never skill or insight; it was simply attention aligned with liquidity. Your real job isn’t to imitate, admire, or worship. Your job is to recognize the patterns. There is a pattern for going all in, and a pattern for stepping back

‼️ Monero appears to be in the midst of a successful 51% attack. The privacy-focused blockchain, launched in 2014 and long targeted by governments and 3-letters agencies, is already banned from most major centralized exchanges. The Qubic mining pool has been amassing hashrate for months and now controls a majority of the network. A major chain reorganization was detected this morning. With its current dominance, Qubic can rewrite the blockchain, enable double-spending, and censor any transaction. Sustaining this attack is estimated to cost $75 million per day. While potentially lucrative, it threatens to destroy confidence in the network almost overnight. Other miners are left with no incentive to continue, as Qubic can simply orphan any competing blocks, effectively becoming the sole miner. In effect, a $300 million market-cap chain is taking over a $6 billion one. Monero's options for recovery are limited, and a full takeover is now possible and even likely. So far, XMR has dropped only 13%.
