@JimmyTraina Agreed with your entire column. I would only point out that scrolling through it wasn’t exactly a treat either.

@SonnyBunch It’s better than that. He just aggregates clips from the podcast mental ward.

I wonder what kind of great content this guy isn’t going to get paid for anymore let’s look at his profile ah yeah that seems about right.

@RyteSideUp On that note, it was much more watchable than Discovery was, especially in the later seasons. It grew on me. Robert Picardo helped a lot. Hope we get more out of him in the final season.

@JimmyPrinceton And the event that caused it deserved to have a movie made about it… Called “Care Bears in Space.” Not a Star Trek show.

I watched the entire first season of SFA and it grew on me. Cared about the characters by end of it. Having Robert Picardo helped a lot. It wasn’t great but much better than Discovery. One gripe was Stephen Colbert as the voice of the computer for comic relief. Also I believe this viral clip from Ep. 1 hurt it out of the gate. Ironically the person on the left was basically an extra. Don’t think they were seen again.

@varadmehta I just think there can be room for different genres in a cinematic universe. Marvel has done this well. You can have light-hearted fun (Spider-man, Ant-Man), spy thrillers (CA: Winter Soldier), or gritty and violent (The punisher). You don't need the same audience for everything

I think the disconnect here is that Star Trek fans have a singular vision of what Star Trek is supposed to be, while others think "why can't we have a Beverly Hills 90210 set in the Star Trek universe?" and it doesn't have to appeal to the people who like the exploration/adventure Star Trek. Ideally the people who like OG Star Trek would simply not care that it exists and focus on the content that is made for them. Streaming TV is not zero-sum and because one thing is made doesn't mean it takes away from other content people do like.

I want to tell new stories, but I want to tell them using established franchises and characters that I will change for my story. Make it make sense.

On March 22, 2005, ‘Boom goes the dynamite!’ was coined by Brian Collins on Ball State University’s student newscast. Filling in for the regular sportscaster, Collins was forced to ad-lib when a teleprompter error caused the script to skip ahead, resulting in the now-viral moment

BREAKING: Multiple Chicago police sources tell me a Venezuelan migrant is in custody for questioning in relation to the heinous shooting death of 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman. CPD tells Fox that Gorman, from Westchester County NY, was walking with friends along Chicago's lake front around 1:30 AM Thursday when a "unknown male offender" opened fire at the group, hitting Gorman in the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Developing story.

The depressing part is that they’re not trying to look like Edward R. Murrow, but rather the podcast skell clip you’d swipe past after 10 seconds.

In high school my mom got me a Sony Watchman. I must have gotten a "B" in a class. I cut a big hole in my Algebra book and put the Watchman inside. The book had never been used. My neighbors in class leaning in. The final three periods of the day, CBS on a two-inch screen. Georgetown vs Lehigh! It was glorious at the time.
