@ehornick Lee was in the process of coming to a stop. His skate positions show that. All of Olivier's 232 lbs of momentum was at Lee's back, & hadn't positioned himself to stop/slow down. What's Lee supposed to do? Olivier is the one who got in the way of his own goalie, not Lee lol.

@TheJetPress i will always be annoyed when they lose experience and consistency on the OL. It always takes time for a unit to gel. That being said, AVT was the Charlie Brown of this unit, just had the worst luck with injuries. I was of the mindset to let him go, resign simpson, and backfill.

Not particularly happy about AVT but i fully understand the flip side argument, even if i personally would’ve taken the risk.
But now that he’s gone, you need to address LG. Can’t go with random scrub No. 6 at LG with Myers at C and call it a day going into the draft.

This is basically where I’m at. Would really like the Jets to add an actual starting-caliber LG at some point over the next few days.
Someone you feel comfortable with starting Week 1 so you’re not pigeonholing yourself come draft day.

I won't pretend not be annoyed about AVT but I will not complain too much about the IOL plan until I see what the backfill strategy is, which needs to be something beyond "we like Max Mitchell and we can address in the draft when the whole world knows you need to use 16 or 33 for a starting spot"

Kyler will have other options so he feels less likely.

@Michael_Nania Aaron Glenn is fighting for his job, which is why he hired Reich to be the head coach on offense. If Reich's system is best served by a 6'2-6'5 QB, I don't see Kyler, cheap cost or not. It's a square peg in a round hole. I would hope Reich has the larger say in the QB targets.

And if he gets injured (likely) or his character blows up the team, then the Jets tank and take a franchise guy next year.
With him being cut and likely signing a cheap contract because of the guarantees he's already getting, the potential reward is well worth the low risk.

Now that he'll be getting released, count me in on Kyler Murray for the Jets. I just think he'll have more appealing options. It'll come down to whether the Jets offer him the safest starting opportunity (as opposed to something like Minnesota with McCarthy looming, etc.)

I get Reich’s year in Carolina was a disaster, but so much went wrong that I don’t think you can make a declarative statement like this.
The OL was in shambles, Bryce was independently bad, Jonathan Mingo was WR2 — like I think blaming solely “the system” is low-hanging fruit.

The 1 start that Dalton (6'2) had he threw for 361/2TDs/0INTs. If Reich wants to prove it can work, Kyler isn't a fit, literally.

@TheJetPress I'm not blaming the system, I'm saying the system isn't built for a smaller QB - which is why Bryce was bad. Look at Dalton's one start in '23 - 361 yards, 2 TDs 0 INTs & an 88.4 rating. Granted he threw 58 times & they still lost, but it shows that the system can work w/a 6'2 QB

In a league where we’ve now seen Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones resurrect their careers in consecutive seasons, I think Kyler is a worthy swing in this market.
Obviously cost matters, but I don’t imagine it being significant.
A trade would be more complicated, of course.
