Tinubu might rule till his death

A lot of Nigerians say this about Ghanaians.
Mind you the slowness in question is us not taking advantage of each other at every given opportunity.
Very poor mindset, and yet they wonder why their country is struggling despite its infinite potential.

A Nigerian woman living in Ghana claims that Ghanaians are slow.

This reparations conversation is so revealing. You donโt believe slavery still exists in different waysโjust read the comments from โenlightenedโ folks. These imperialists will always find a way to get back. Reading comments that claim whites never played a part in slavery but we blacks sold ourselves shocks the hell out of me.
English

Has Ghana conveniently forgotten that the Ashanti Empire was one of the largest slave trading kingdoms in Africa and activity participated in the transatlantic trade?
Britain launched a series of campaigns to abolish slavery, forcing the Ashanti to outlaw slavery in 1874.

@i_am_nunya @Lot_Moore_ Your ancestors sold your brothers but no I canโt talk about it because theyโre inferior to the Asante Kingdom and the Asante kingdom will give me the traction I want lol ๐
English

Again, Ashantiโs werenโt the only people involved. Almost all coastal/southern tribes participated.
The Ashanti are a good example because their influence is bigger and better documented.
They conducted the business very intentionally and hoped it continued when it ended.
Cynthia Botchway@Naa_Anyimah_PhD
@i_am_nunya I am not sure if all this is just for engagement but I wish no one localizes this to a tribe. Some chiefs benefited from it but many suffered. Many who watched what others suffered just yielded considering they will be spared all the trouble but also benefit. Will you blame them?

โผ๏ธ๐จPETITION FROM PEOPLE OF AFRICAN DESCENT TO REQUEST THAT GHANA IMMEDIATELY CANCELS ITโS RECENTLY SIGNED SECURITY AGREEMENT WITH THE EUROPEAN UNION
If you support, just reply, โI SUPPORT.โ
Ghana cannot simultaneously bring forward a United Nations resolution to recognize the transatlantic trade as a crime against humanity and sign a security agreement with those whose very actions have rejected said motion.
You cannot abstain from voting on the UN resolution that is the clearest support of the Declaration of Human Rights that the UN professes to be based on.
This abstention is tantamount to a rejection of the motion.

I am overjoyed by the adoption by the UN Gerneral Assembly of the resolution declaring the trafficking of enslaved Africans and racialised chattel enslavement of Africans as the gravest crime against humanity.
The process of its realisation, from idea to reality, was made possible by the solidarity of people of good conscience around the world and led by the active coalition of the African Union, CARICOM and other groups.
I cannot think of a better way to honour our forebears on the day of remembrance than to have the majority of the worldโs countries affirm that the trafficking and enslavement of nearly 13 million human beings is, indeed, the gravest crime against humanity.
One of those forebears, Franรงois-Dominique Toussaint LโOuverture, who was born into slavery but became one of the architects of Haiti's liberation, the first independent nation in Latin America and the Caribbean, said: โThe greatest weapon against oppression is unity.โ
We must stand united in seeking the restoration of the humanity and dignity of our forbears who were enslaved and sold.

English

@BritzerHist @Jane95475959158 Maybe Ghana needs to introduce a "Black History Month" to educate their Govt and wider population about their past ?

@JOttoPohl1 @BritzerHist Remember guys this wyt boy has been in Ghana and lives amongst us before but thinks this way about us. Know your friends Ghanaians.

Having lived and worked in Ghana I can assure you that the Ga and Ewe have not forgotten about the Asante slave raids. Modern politics in Ghana center around the NPP (mostly Asante and other Akan) vs. the NDC (all other ethnic groups). This is somewhat veiled due to the ban on ethnic based political parties introduced by Nkrumah shortly after independence.
