@Simon_Gregg Top left: Most ice cube holes.
Top right: Tray isn't a quadrilateral. Holes are similar to the tray.
Bottom left: Every ice cube hole is full length of tray. Fewest ice cube holes.
Bottom right: Even number of ice cube holes. Least efficient bin packing of holes?
@mrsforest@saravdwerf Top left: Brown wrappers (all others are red).
Top right: Packs contain mult items. Plural name
Bottom left: There's only 1. Has a number in the name.
Bottom right: Have sticks. Meant to be licked, not chewed. Cheapest of the options/lowest on the Halloween candy hierarchy.
Famous "is a hot dog a sandwich" debate led by @JustinAion and @Sneffleupagus
Was willing to concede against hoagies and support a vertical alignment of ingredients, but this opened the door to hamburgers and Oreos and now I just want to curl into a ball #NCTM2022#sandwichchat
@Phil_Lewis_ TA/Lab Assistant for a couple of different classes, worked in business school computer lab, administered business school computer lab (sched workers, did payroll paperwork, etc.), babysat, and typed papers (with light editing) for others.
Two milestones today (and a bit of an announcement):
1. I survived the first week of my 11th year of teaching.
2. We're officially in the third trimester with Baby Carter #2 who should be making his appearance in November!

Enterprise IT is having one team to restore a back-up and another to power-on the computer spread across 5 time-zones and it taking a 50 email thread to do this.
The designs are all specially created for the book and include a variety of structures including different kinds of symmetry, fractal like behaviour, random elements, repetition, tiling and more.
I’m putting together a colouring book of some of my geometric designs based on regular shapes. I’m going to do a small run so let me know if you might be interested in buying a copy so I can get an idea of numbers.
I will be selling at cost price, probably $8-10 plus shipping.
@stoodle One school district around here said they normally have 250 people on their sub list and this year they have around 100.
They've increased their sub pay.
@mrosvhs@robertkaplinsky My daughter was grade skipped (skipped 1st grade). She has an April birthday, so was officially 4.5 months young for grade.
In 5th or 6th grade she realized that she was younger than someone who was 2 grades below her.
@mrosvhs@robertkaplinsky This is NOT the standard cut off point everywhere.
The standard around here is 9/1 (so you could have a kindergartener start at age 4 because school starts in August), but at least one local private school uses a date several months earlier.
Have you seen research on correlations between age and gifted / honors / accelerated placement?
For example, if a grade level's cutoff was 9/1, you could have two 3rd graders born on 9/1 & 8/31 that perform differently because one is nearly a year older. We should expect a diff.
