On the way, he wrote seven letters. In 107 AD, within living memory of the Apostles, he wrote: “Where the bishop is, there let the multitude of believers be; even as where Jesus is, there is the Catholic Church.” (Letter to the Smyrnaeans, 8:2) This is the first recorded use of the term “Catholic Church” and it comes from a man who personally knew the Apostle who leaned on Jesus’ chest at the Last Supper. The Catholic Church by name. Obedience to bishops in apostolic succession. 107 AD. Not the Council of Trent. Not the Middle Ages. The next time someone tells you the Catholic Church invented these doctrines centuries later, show them Ignatius. He wrote this on the way to die for it. Who will share this?

@Queeneth01olx A lot of the problem is social media and internalizing the unattainable expectations. People who haven't been pregnant or given birth have no idea how difficult it is mentally. And it doesn't end there! Months, if not years after you are still in recovery mode. It's fucking hard.

I thought bringing a baby into the world was the hardest part of motherhood. I was so wrong 😭 😭 The actual hardest part is the mental toll that comes right after. Before your stitches even start to heal, people suddenly becomes a pediatrician. "Ah, why is the baby so small? Are you sure your breast milk is enough? See how tiny he is looking." "She was so fair when she was born, why is she getting dark now?" "You need to feed this baby well oh, look at how thin her legs are." "Give him formula so he can be chubby. Babies are supposed to be fat." It is incredibly exhausting 😢 You’re running on zero sleep. Your body is still in pain. You’re emotionally drained. You’re trying to keep a tiny human alive. But somehow people still make you feel like you’re already failing as a mother, simply because your baby doesn’t look like the diaper packs babies online. Please, I’m begging some of you 🙏, stop putting unnecessary pressure on new mothers. Not every healthy baby will be big, fat, or overly fair. Sometimes all a new mum needs is: Congratulations. You’re doing well. How can I help? That’s it. If you can’t offer kind and encouraging words, or prayer, please keep the unsolicited medical analysis to yourself. As long as the baby is healthy, breathing, and eating, that should be enough. New mothers are already fighting silent battles mentally. Be gentle with them. Have you ever experienced or witnessed this kind of pressure before?
