@JillDunlop1 Your ban does not go far enough. NO Repercussions!!There are phones in classrooms, parents and students claim they need their phone to help with anxiety. Boards tell teachers students should use phones because there is not enough computers/Chromebooks in school.

Children need to be protected online. That's why our government has taken steps to limit social media and ban cellphone use in classrooms. Today, I continued my conversations with social media companies by meeting with Facebook Canada, where we discussed how we can collaborate on keeping kids safe online and focused on learning in the classroom.

Securing the power we need for tomorrow 🔌 With energy demand soaring, @Sflecce announced the next step in Ontario's plan to generate more reliable & #AffordableEnergy by building net-new energy generation. The largest electricity expansion in 30+ years, without raising taxes.  🔗: news.ontario.ca/en/release/100…

It was a pleasure to meet representatives from @PCACanada at their Queen’s Park reception, as part of their advocacy day. Contractors are the backbone of our collective effort to build 1.5 million homes across Ontario. Thank you for your dedication to building a stronger future for our province.

@Teachers__Unite The excuse the ministry and parents always use is what did the teacher do to trigger the student, such BS. Parents need to be held accountable for their child’s actions.

Research shows that students are ruder and more violent since the pandemic. However, nobody acknowledges that the Sept. 2020 ON gov. decision to ban k-3 suspensions, as well as reduce suspensions in all other grades, has led to this situation. Actions have consequences. #onted

An EA in southwestern Ontario is in a coma after a student assault. What will it take for action on the part of the government to finally tackle school violence? #onted #cdned #edchat
Chandra Pasma@ChandraPasma

Our schools are dealing with a growing crisis of violence, that has now resulted in a very serious injury to an education worker. We need the government to implement the NDP’s Emergency Plan to End School Violence and properly fund education. #onpoli #onted

@HPhysicsteacher @Teachers__Unite Teachers college could never prepare you for what you encounter in a classroom. A teacher juggles 24-36 different personalities, strength weaknesses, teenage drama with no parent or student accountability.

@Teachers__Unite There needs to be much more emphasis placed on Teachers Colleges actually preparing individuals for their future career more effectively. The program needs a complete overhaul and should be an undergrad option (not a 2 degree concurrent program) just like nursing

Student outcomes depend heavily on teacher preparedness. Why not provide teachers with ready-to-use resources so they can focus on teaching and learning more than creating? #onted #cdned #edchat

@JillDunlop1 Oh Jill you know nothing about bullying because if you did you would hold parents accountable for their child’s behaviour and you would have strict guidelines for schools to follow so that the bullies are punished and our schools become more safe.

Bullying is a critical issue in our schools, and one that we take very seriously. As a parent, I know the gut-wrenching feeling that washes over you when your child tells you about being bullied. That’s why our government is investing $4.6M to combat this systemic issue and ensure every student has the opportunity to feel safe and supported as they reach their full potential. t.co/rz7EIOl3Fe

@JillDunlop1 This is why today you announced 4.6 million reasons why bullying will continue in schools. You are too afraid to hold the student and parents accountable for their actions and you handcuff boards and most of all teaches to be able todo nothing to stop this. You need to resign.

I know how hard it can be when your child comes home after a tough day at school, sharing stories of feeling bullied or unsafe. This morning, I was pleased to announce a $4.6M investment to help combat bullying in schools & expand initiatives to equip students with the social & emotional skills they need to thrive. Education funding needs to go towards education. In light of recent events, we’ve discovered this isn’t always happening. Today I spoke with directors of education and board trustees about our goal to work together in ensuring money goes where it’s needed most. Parents expect school boards to be responsible stewards of public education dollars and we’re committed to making sure it stays that way.

How do you explain the poor behaviour found in FDK as well as grades 1 and 2? These students weren't in school during the 2019-2020 school year. Covid lockdowns aren't the reason for out-of-control student behaviour. Zero consequences are the problem. #onted #cdned #edchat
