@EdenGreg @PeterStefanovi2 Indeed, as was said on 28 February and as always the case in Rip Off Britain (ROB), our beloved retailers are price gouging its own citizens.

@donmcgowan Excellent point - our media have a lot to answer for and when they smell blood, their like vampires. They need / want a story for their relevance, no matter how irrelevant.

A quick listen to Nick Ferrari on LBC this morning confirms the stark facts I laid out in my article a couple of days ago. Within the first hour of the show, they ran pre-prepared hit-job segments on Wes Streeting and Angela Rayner. Before a leadership challenge has even been launched. So I ask you? What's the point? That is directed specifically at those in Labour who would see this happen. Do you honestly think that Rayner or Streeting, Miliband or Burnham would be allowed even five minutes in post before the press moved to topple them? Like Starmer or loathe him, the problem lies in the dark side of the media getting high on their own supply. And if the supply runs out, they just make more. Have a listen to @NoHoldsPod later when our Media Madness episode drops — @dodgson_sally and I discuss it at length. And if you missed my article, I'll just leave this here. 😄 x.com/donmcgowan/sta…

@KernowQ @Keir_Starmer This, and the many other pro Labour threads are great as it sounds like a huge majority of the public support Starmer, so why did so many Councillors loose to Reform last week?

I have never had a response to anything I've said on twitter before. My support for stability @Keir_Starmer has led to so many likes, retweets and bookmarks. Thousands. It is clear that there is a wide real desire for peace, security and stability with Starmer.

@helloKi30596224 And we wonder why our country goes from crisis to crisis, changing our PM like a mobile contract. Like a Credit Card, you can't clear the mess overnight, unless, as our frenzied media would have it, you just move the debt to another card - nothing achieved.

I am so disappointed in the Labour MPs calling for a change of leadership. We are 2 years into government and they are just playing into the right wing media's hands and paving the way for Reform.

@K4Owen @Keir_Starmer Well said, sad that people point and direct their anger at the PM when the enquiry was quite clear where the fault lies, be it the parents and institutions; the same institutions strangled by the choices of the last government over 14 years.

The brutal, senseless murders of Bebe, Elsie and Alice marked one of the darkest moments in our country’s history. The report today is truly harrowing and profoundly disturbing. It sets out systematic failures that led to this terrible event. I’ve been overwhelmed by the bravery and determination of their families and while nothing will ever bring these three little girls back, I’m determined to make the fundamental changes needed to keep the public safe. I will do everything I can to honour the memory of Bebe, Elsie, and Alice.

Let me dust off my crystal ball and explain what's going to happen here. Iran is going to lose this war. Their ability to terrorize the region will be over. This will usher in a new era of peace and prosperity in the Middle East. Hezbollah and Hamas will be eliminated. Once the war ends, which should be within the next month or so, gas prices will fall to their lowest levels in years. All of the recent stock market losses will recover and more. Once Hamas is gone, places like Gaza will be rebuilt to rival the beauty of Dubai. The Republicans will win the House and the Senate in the midterms. MAGA will dominate DC for a generation. And that's the way it is.

@BryceMLipscomb @NATO What I Never forget is that Putin is a brutal dictator and NATO didn't move to the East, the Western States chose to move to their West. That says more about Putins Russia than it does about NATO.

The level of personal hostility directed at Keir Starmer over the last week deserves scrutiny in its own right. Not because he should be immune from criticism, but because the tone and intensity of the attacks tell us something unhealthy about the state of democratic politics. 1. Starmer is a conventional political figure. Cautious, legalistic, incremental. He frustrates people precisely because he is managerial rather than messianic. Yet the reaction to him often goes far beyond disagreement, tipping into visceral hatred more commonly reserved for authoritarians or demagogues. 2. Much of this hostility is disconnected from concrete policy. It is not about specific votes, proposals or outcomes, but about projection. A belief that Starmer embodies betrayal, bad faith or hidden malice. That kind of politics runs on suspicion rather than evidence. 3. This matters because democracy depends on the assumption of good faith among opponents. You can think a leader is wrong, timid, or misguided without believing they are fundamentally illegitimate. Once politics becomes moralised to the point of demonisation, compromise is reframed as treachery and pluralism as weakness. 4. The pattern is familiar. In fragmented, polarised systems, anger concentrates not on extremists, whose intentions are clear, but on moderates, who disappoint maximalists on all sides. The centre becomes the lightning rod precisely because it resists totalising narratives. 5. There is also a media and online dynamic at work. Incentives reward outrage, not proportionality. Algorithms favour contempt over analysis. Over time, this creates a political culture in which relentless personal attack feels normal, even virtuous, rather than disgusting. 6. None of this is a defence of Starmer’s decisions, instincts or record. Those should be argued over robustly as you do in a democracy. The problem is the substitution of critique with hostility and the quiet erosion of democratic norms that follows when political opponents are treated as enemies rather than rivals. 7. A democracy cannot function if every election is framed as an existential struggle against internal evil. At some point, the target may change, but the damage to trust, restraint and culture remains.

In 1980, 7-year-old Anna Bachmeier was abducted, raped, and murdered by Klaus Grabowski, a convicted sex offender with numerous prior offenses against children. In 1981, Grabowski claimed during his trial that the 7-year-old “had seduced” him, which enraged her mother. On the third day of the trial, Marianne Bachmeier, Ana’s mother, took justice into her own hands, approached Grabowski from behind, and fired 7 shots, killing him instantly. Bachmeier said, “I did it for Ana.” She served only 3 years for manslaughter and was then paroled. The case sparked intense debate on vigilantism and the rule of law. In my opinion, the mother was a hero. What do you think—vigilante, hero or both?

Everybody knew who Trump was before he was elected. He raped E. Jean Carroll, he told you about his predilection for grabbing women by the p*ssy. His ex wife Ivana Trump testified in court that he raped her. Cheated on his wives. Slept with a porn star... Since the 1970s, at least 28 women have accused Donald Trump of various acts of sexual misconduct, including rape, kissing and groping without consent, looking under women's skirts, and walking in on naked teenage pageant contestants (The Howard Stern Show). He told us exactly who he was and you voted for him anyway. Now, people are reading these things for themselves. But, want to deny that it's true? Are these the spoils of rich men in America? How did Trump become a God to these people? Is everyone lying on him?

The hypocrisy of a draft dodger criticizing NATO soldiers, including those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to fight for OUR security, is very embarrassing to me as an American. To all Europeans and Canadians, I apologize. I also pledge to do all I can to renew my country as a more respectable ally in the future.
