When Jimmy Bullard was at Fulham, they went away on a pre-season trip to Germany.
One night a few of the players were sat in the hotel’s canal-side bar having a drink.
It was about 11pm when Chris Coleman came round and told them they needed to be in their rooms by midnight at the latest.
That did not last long.
By 2am they were still there doing vodka shots.
Then Coleman came back down again with Steve Kean.
The players froze for a second because they thought the night was over.
Instead Coleman told them:
“Don’t worry.”
“We’ll join you.”
By 4am they were all smashed.
At some point in the middle of it, Bullard nicked one of Steve Kean’s flip-flops and launched it into the canal.
Kean was not especially impressed.
“Go and get it!”
Bullard’s answer was simple enough.
“You go and get it.”
That went on for a bit until Kean got up and leaned over the water trying to find the flip-flop in the dark.
Bullard was stood there with Mark Crossley looking at him.
He started talking about how funny it would be to rugby tackle Kean straight into the canal.
Crossley told him:
“Go on then.”
Bullard did not need asking twice.
He leapt over the long table, launched himself at Kean and sent the pair of them straight into the water.
Kean started throwing punches while Bullard was trying to get out.
The rest of them were in bits on the side watching it.
Bullard eventually scrambled out.
Kean got out after him and started chasing him through the park next to the canal.
That carried on until Michael Brown got Bullard away and hid him in his room.
By the time Bullard had dried off and stopped laughing, it was morning.
A few hours later he went downstairs looking for breakfast.
The lift doors opened.
Standing right there waiting to get in was Steve Kean.
Bullard looked at him and said:
“Hi Steve.”
“How are you doing?”
Kean just looked back at him, gave him a wink and said:
“Blinding night last night.”

It is not even a debate that Ollie Watkins is Harry Kane’s England understudy. Two of Watkins’ last three international goals have been really important, especially the winner against the Dutch in Dortmund to take England to the Euro 2024 final, a brilliant angled finish, and then the first goal against Greece in Athens to help England a step closer to returning to Nations League Group A.
Six goals in 665 minutes (across 20 games). Scored on last appearance, friendly v Wales at Wembley. Watkins is reliable.
Calvert-Lewin in form, great to see, and worth another look, but needs to dispel doubts over injury record. Delap needs to focus on seizing a great opportunity to be Chelsea’s No 9, focus on scoring and avoiding bookings and injuries. Toney off radar in Saudi. Solanke needs full fitness and then games. Tuchel also talks about playing one of his 10s higher up.
Left-winger Rashford an option as third choice behind Kane and Watkins. But definitely Watkins No 2. Low maintenance, high yield. #ENG #AVFC

@cooksleft @Nxozane_ We’ve spent 3 transfer windows post Critchley coming away from a back 5, why appoint a manager whose preferred system is a back 5 (which will of been discussed and well known prior to appointment). It’s not his fault he took the job, it’s a perfect dream job for him. Wrong fit.
English

@Nxozane_ No, he's not. It's irrelevant. He didn't appoint himself.
You aren't getting it. I'm not falling for the same shit again of destroying the manager/players and letting decision makes get away with it.
We need deep *change* not window dressing

@ChrisBFC1996 Brown’s arguably been our player of the season after Fletcher, there’s many more that have been poorer than him.

I mean surely with some brain capacity we’re in for him? Down the road

@jxj_cpfc @BlackpoolFC @CPFC Can’t play for 3 teams in a season. So that won’t happen, only option is back to us.
English

@JoeBlanthorn @BlackpoolFC @CPFC Nah, I reckon he’ll be in the squad at Sunderland tomorrow then get sent out on loan to a Championship side
English

@ItsJackLaws @BlackpoolFC @CPFC Then what? Bench a few games, you’ll get in replacements / injuries back then he’s out the squad ?

Kenny Dalglish’s first Premier League game in charge ends in embarrassment. Despite a lovely early strike from Fernando Torres, Liverpool succumb and are beaten 2-1 by Blackpool
