@RepTroyCarter @delgadocc Thanks Sir. I know my Mom and Dad are smiling down!

Congratulations to the @delgadocc baseball team as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of Louisiana’s first junior college athletics program.
This remarkable program was founded by Louis “Rags” Scheuermann and continues today under the leadership of his son, head coach @Joescheu. Their leadership, along with the talent, dedication, and hard work of the players, has made a phenomenal impact on the school and our community.
I look forward to seeing this legacy carried forward for years to come in honor of my late, great friends Maureen and Rags Scheuermann.

Very proud of our guys’ community involvement and the way they represent our program. Their commitment to excellence is one of the many reasons we are proud to call them Dolphins!

Over the past week, the Dolphins have assisted St. Francis of Assisi Parish with preparing food baskets & angel tree gifts to help make the holidays a little brighter for more than 60 local families. Thanks to our guys for continuing our tradition of giving back to our community.

Patti Arnold was a JUCO gem. As the Grand Junction Sentinel sports editor and longtime media liaison for the NJCAA Junior College World Series, she was usually one of the first people you spoke with after your team qualified for the World Series and one of the last people you hugged on the way out of the stadium when you went home. She understood how important it was to tell the players’ and programs’ story during such a monumental moment in their lives. She asked the tough questions and made everyone feel at home in her own first class, professional way. We had some late night calls, photo sharing, credential requests, tight deadlines, and lots of laughs, especially when one of our calls took place in a tornado shelter after qualifying. For our family, she was there during some of our best personal and professional moments: the first series post-Katrina, three trips in a row from 2014-2016, my dad’s 800th win and later his induction into the Coaches’ Hall of Fame, and our opener as the #2 seed in the country. Over our six visits, was always a welcoming face in the big Pressbox and always treated this young SID like one of her pros. She literally wrote the book on the event and helped made it better each time we visited. Our last trip in 2023 coincided with her retirement. Sad to hear of her passing, but grateful that our paths crossed on the JUCO journey. Thanks, Patti, for helping share Delgado’s story and elevating our whole NJCAA organization.

Everyone has their story, but thanks to USA Today for telling ours. It reminded me how great our guys were both on and off the field!

Rebirth. Renaissance. Tears to cheers. It’s hard to put Delgado Baseball’s Katrina story into words, but USA Today did just that on this 20th anniversary. It’s a proud moment for all of us who work to tell the Dolphins’ story. This story belongs to everyone who played a role, 2005 to today. Read all about it: usatoday.com/story/sports/2…
