I’m creating a new pepper the world has never seen before, and it’s surprisingly kind of easy to do. What you see here is the 1st generation of my pepper. (Yet to be named) I’m cross-pollinating: 2x Banana Pepper 2x Jalapeño Pepper 1x Cayenne Pepper 1x Hungarian Wax Pepper 1x Cubanelle Pepper All of these are from the same species (capsicum annuum) and will be easy to cross-pollinate. Also they all ripen red. I’ve chosen these peppers because I want my final creation to be bright red and hit the Scoville scale at around 10k to 25k units. How this works: This season I’ll grow all of these peppers within around 15 inches of each other. I’ll let the bees do most of the heavy lifting, but I’ll occasionally use a paint brush to ‘paint’ one flower of pollen onto another flower from a different plant. While harvesting throughout the season, I’ll pick one pepper from each plant that I liked the most and use their seeds for next season. Traits I’ll look for: • Color • Heat • Shape • Taste • Weirdness Next season I’ll plant the seeds from the peppers I chose, and this will be generation two, or F1, as they call it. I’ll repeat this process for a minimum of four years until I start ‘seeing’ the pepper I want. After four years I’ll have reached the stage where I stabilize the pepper by focusing on consistent traits. Realistically it will probably be 5-8 years before I have the pepper I want, but I’ll have created a pepper that is completely new to humanity. For scope, the Carolina reaper took 10 generations to create in someone’s backyard. Gonna be a fun little long-term project. Retweet if you are gay.

After researching this more, this move by @NFL is one of the most ableist moves from an institution I've seen since HoloHear. Puerto Rico uses ASL. LSPR is an endangered, indigenous language and I couldn't find examples of anyone who uses LSPR who couldn't use ASL. This move serves no useful purpose whatsoever. It does, however, reduce sign language to virtue signaling, which is why it's so ableist. Shame on you @NFL.
