The Phillies have two open 40 man spots on their roster so they could in theory add him and then just remove him later if they need a spot. For some reason they have not been opportunistic in claiming players to max out the 40 man so that option does exist here.
Will Sammon@WillSammon

Veteran INFer/OFer Dylan Moore is triggering his opt-out clause, league sources said. The Phillies will have 48 hours to add him to the 40-man roster. Otherwise, he is set to be a free agent on Saturday. Clubs with injury concerns like Astros, Mets, Orioles could show interest.

@Joe_Morrison1 There's about $17.5M of dead cap sitting in 2027 right now (as much as $18.2M if the incentives vest). But the contract contains language that will allow the Eagles to process that void as a Post 6/1 move this time around. So it will be a much cleaner process.

Dallas Goedert's 1-yr $7M guaranteed contract is peak #Eagles. The deal includes: A min. $1.3M salary A $4.25M signing bonus A $1.45M roster bonus, treated as a signing bonus $1M of LTBE incentives, $955k of which are treated as a signing bonus. And of course, 4 void years.

There’s some really interesting developments with Jesús Luzardo’s change-up. It looks to me like they’ve made a conscious effort to take a bit off of it to add more depth to it. First, the velo was down from 88 MPH to 85 MPH. Second, it dropped 33 inches, which is up from an average of 28 inches last year and the horizontal break on it was 19 inches, up for 17. Took a bit off velo wise to get more movement on the pitch and be even tougher on hitters. 97-99 on the fastball to 85 on the change is really, really tough.

My only problem with this is that the Eagles have been a little too loose with late round picks. Is trading a 7 for Andy Dalton really a better option than just re-signing Sam Howell for less money as well? I’d take my chances with Sam as the post McKee backup.

I wouldn’t expect a Tanner McKee trade immediately, I’m assuming the Eagles are making this trade with the idea that there will be interest in Tanner and teams may not want to pay up until they see how the draft shakes out. Optionality.

I think signing Donovan Wilson to a 1 yr deal would be a pretty good idea. The theme of the offseason so far has been draft proofing the team, there is definitely going to be a veteran signing at safety. Marcus Epps too makes a ton of sense obviously.

Concern I have for Eagles is run defense post Nakobe Dean. He was critical for them. Campbell isn't nearly as good at that yet. Whoever their second safety is needs to be physical & good against the run, in my opinion. Donovan Wilson interests me some.

@mark_kremer To be fair, this is also what happens when you rely on 2 Phillies in the top 4 of your order in a big game

Fred Johnson is still out there. Eagles would be very wise to re-up with him. They know he can go out there and do a fine job. That's all you want from a backup. I don't think his market is particularly robust. Just go out and do it.

Wonder where the Eagles go at receiver after reportedly missing out on Darnell Mooney. Would think that Christian Kirk and Hollywood Brown would be reasonable ideas. Could see Keenan Allen. Maybe even Juju Smith-Schuster

@Boythatneverwaz @spotrac I think it's a risk worth taking. The money doesn't especially bother me because they're probably at least 2 yrs away. Rather spend money than a premium pick.

@Joe_Morrison1 @spotrac Yeah but his deal is basically 2 year 45m. He’s making about what baker got with Tampa. If Miami does have to draft QB next year because not even Josh Allen could win with that roster then he’s a incredibly expensive bridge QB in 27

@Boythatneverwaz @spotrac That is correct I agree. He has the physical tools with crazy upside. Seems to be on an uphill trajectory with his development. Even if he’s terrible they’ll just get a top pick. It’s harmless.

@Joe_Morrison1 @spotrac GB Willis isn’t going to make any inroads in a division with Josh Allen and Drake Maye, especially not with a rebuilding roster. He has to basically insert himself into the top 5 conversation.

@DetRockJohnson @spotrac I suppose that is a possibility. I just prefer this to signing a 1 yr vet or drafting a QB that would clearly fail with the current infrastructure. I like the boom or bust element that we've seen with Willis. I see your point though.

@Joe_Morrison1 @spotrac You're leaving out the scenario where he plays somewhere in between, and they have a QB that wasn't deserving of being paid as much as he was and a mid draft pick to boot

Feels like a reasonable deal. On paper, the WR room currently includes AJ Brown, Devonta, Hollywood, Cooper, Wilson, Covey. Assuming AJ stays, they're pretty set there. Can still draft someone if they want.
Jordan Schultz@Schultz_Report

Breaking: The #Eagles are signing former #Chiefs WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to a 1-year, deal worth up to $6.5M, multiple sources tell me. The explosive Brown had 49 catches for 587 yards and 5 TDs last season.
