Goldman Sachs looked at 7 pipeline and export infrastructure projects currently under construction or planned across the Gulf, and the numbers are striking: -By end of 2027: 45%+ of pre-war Persian Gulf exports could bypass Hormuz entirely -By end of 2028: that rises to 60%+ -Median construction time for Gulf pipelines: 2.5 years, projects born from supply disruptions move even faster The UAE's West-East Pipeline and Iraq's Basra-Haditha Pipeline are already under construction, and a Dubai port operator is in talks to build an entirely new port on the UAE coast specifically to reduce dependence. The Iran war may ultimately be remembered less for the immediate oil crisis it caused and more for permanently accelerating the global drive to escape reliance on a single chokepoint. 7-9 million barrels per day will still flow through Hormuz no matter what gets built, Qatar's LNG has no realistic alternative route, and Kuwait and Iraq remain deeply exposed.
