@SciGuySpace Agreed with Eric, NASA saying something along the lines of January 2026 is meaningless. This program has a history of unrealistic timelines, and shoddy workmanship.

Apropos of nothing, NASA releases a statement this afternoon saying the agency is tracking toward Starliner's next flight in early 2026.

@BGLordofthechat @SciGuySpace And what boosters will it fly on? There are only six more Atlas rockets assigned to CST-100 missions. Vulcan is not human rated. Neither is any U.S. commercial rocket coming online in the next three years. Boeing would have to fly cargo and crew missions.

@SciGuySpace "Of course it would completely end ISS". Would it? The ISS soldiered on between the end of the shuttle and the start of Dragon. And Boeing claim they've fixed the problems from the last Starliner flight. 🤔

This is not necessarily a bluff. Elon has been reluctant to take on new Dragon-related projects for awhile now, and would like to move human missions to Starship as soon as possible. Of course it would completely end ISS, and impair future commercial space stations. Wild times.

Marc Garneau was a rare politician. He came to the House of Commons as a Canadian space hero and never deviated from setting an example of competence, non-partisanship and exemplary leadership. On a personal level, he was warm, engaging and unusually down to earth. We have lost an inspiring, insightful and compassionate Canadian.

If the failure of Starship does not get you down, don't worry, I've got you. I'm chasing a couple of other shitty news stories in space-world.

New Glenn safely reached its intended orbit during today's NG-1 mission, accomplishing our primary objective. The second stage is in its final orbit following two successful burns of the BE-3U engines. The Blue Ring Pathfinder is receiving data and performing well. We lost the booster during descent. We knew landing the first stage on the first try was ambitious. We'll learn, refine, and apply that knowledge to our next launch in the spring. We're thrilled with today's outcome. @ConsumerSOS Genuine surprised you were old enough to interview him. You probably caught him a year before he died. Odd that he lived in a bungalow near the Queensway and Dixie in Mississauga.

I also got to interview Col. Harlan Sanders (of KFC fame, kids) for a story when I was an 18-year-old radio reporter in Lethbridge, Alberta—home to one of his first Canadian franchisees. Took some serious effort in the pre-internet age. But I tracked him down. Also: Col. Sanders would be 134 years old today.

@DJSnM This rocket just might be a full and proper competitor to SpaceX in the medium-lift market, because of full reusability.

@dpoddolphinpro @blueorigin After the first scrub, I won't wait around. I'll watch it in the morning if it happens. If weather was 70 percent Go, I'd stay awake and watch it live.

Today, a report revealed that Doug Ford’s plan for a private spa at Ontario Place, and to rip the Science Centre out of Flemingdon Park, will lead to even more traffic chaos on Toronto’s waterfront. If Ford calls a snap election, let’s take a stand and fight for our city.
