In 1950 the XB-36 was fitted with massive, 5,000-lb tracked units to test whether distributing the giant bomber's weight could allow it to operate from Arctic staging bases and soft, unimproved runways. Spoiler: It didn't work out—too heavy and too much maintenance.

@HaroldMouhan @Telegraph Flights 7 and 8 caused falling debris to scatter across multiple Caribbean locations, stretching from the Bahamas to the Dominican Republic. The fallout sparked local environmental and safety concerns regarding test flights of unproven vehicles traveling over populated areas.

Tesla and its employees work around the clock to make this planet cleaner, cities more livable. Space X works around the clock to make sure humanity has a B plan. And John in Georgia keeps complaining that a few debris have landed in the bottom of the ocean. Sorry about the lack of patience, but I'll take the debris over your attitude.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX successfully launched a new model of its Starship rocket on Friday, a day after an initial test was aborted at the last minute. The mission marked the 12th test flight of Starship and the debut of the 400ft-tall Version 3 rocket. 🔗: telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2026/0…

@HaroldMouhan @Telegraph Debris from a SpaceX Starship launch broke apart mid-flight and littered the beaches and islands of Turks/Caicos. No ground injuries were reported, falling metal fragments damaged local vehicles, prompting emergency responses and temporarily halting commercial airline flights.

@HaroldMouhan @Telegraph You must be on Musk's payroll. A single "boat" to recover the remains of that gigantic explosion! Clearly they weren't serious.

There was a boat there to try and salvage the most possible parts. It’s precious material for their development. Anyways it’s such minor pollution for the same of progress. You should be a lot more concerned about the Indians spilling millions of gallons of raw sewage and tons of plastic junk everyday.

On April 30th, 1962 the Lockheed A-12 Oxcart took its first "OFFICIAL" flight out of groom lake, piloted by Lou Schalk. The first "UNOFFICIAL" flight took place four days earlier when Lou inadvertently took it up during the high speed taxi test.👀

@KKaWSB @Kagantuoya Reckless disregard for the Indian Ocean. I expected more from SpaceX. My bad. Time and again they blow up their vehicles there as if it belonged to them and there were no consequences. Disgraceful.

On Nov 27th, 1951 Ft. Worth held its breath while this B-36 circled the city's murky skies for some six hours with a defective landing gear. The pilot ordered 16 crew members to parachute to safety and then he and two others prepared for the job of landing the crippled giant.
