@HlNOMARUSUMO Yeah. There are some strange people out there. Recently I came across a guy that claimed even PC is not all digital, because supposedly some games are still sold on DVDs…

It's staggering how many people say something like "I'm a digital gamer, but fuck Sony for ending discs! We want to have the option." Think about what this is saying. "Hey Sony, keep making this product that I will never buy." How is that gonna pay for the workers and overhead costs of the disc factory? Imagine telling McDonald's to keep stocking some item that barely anyone orders, because it's nice to see it on the menu. The only defense to this is "well, niche products exist in other industries." Here's the problem: is Sony some little niche company? Why are y'all expecting the market leader to behave like some boutique shop? Absolute delusion and financial illiteracy on this app. The funniest part is how these discs are supposedly popular enough to end the PlayStation brand when Sony sunsets them, but also niche like vinyl. Which is it?

@ItZrefleX_96 @JamiesAct Those CE were all w/o a Disc. Only a code in the box. Some people claim it’s because of the digital only PS5… I don’t think those people are the target audience for a CE… PS6 will come in 2 flavors: Stationary & Handheld. A disc wouldn’t work on the later. So CiB is a must

@JohnCritton @JamiesAct They’ve actually had a few. Even if they stop doing collector editions moving forward, they’ve had deluxe editions for all their games. I don’t see why not just make discs exclusive to those editions. It racks in extra cash while limiting backlash.

I just need to know: what is his actual end goal here? To stop Sony from phasing out physical games for another 2 years? 3 years? 5 years? Forever? They’re out here experimenting with gaming on AR glasses, and this dude is still crying over discs. 😭

@Xvault2 I’m surprised you never heard of it before. It’s pretty much an open secret that the PS6 is probably coming as Handheld and Stationary Version, thanks to all the leaks from @mooreslawisdead

@Generalkidd @NazRaiGaming @Microsoft It failed, because the economics doesn’t work except for some special cases. Imagine the data centers they would need to build. Not going to happen anytime soon, now that everything is put into AI.

@JohnCritton @NazRaiGaming @Microsoft And just because previous attempts at cloud streaming failed, doesn't mean they're not going to keep trying it again. Cloud streaming is the ultimate way for publishers to completely control how people get and play their games.

I've been reading through various T&C's and have noticed in @Microsoft 's one under clause 7.c they have stated: "Except to the extent required by applicable law, we have no obligation to provide a re-download or replacement of any material" In other words Microsoft and Xbox can take away your ability to re-download a game you have purchased once it has been de-listed (unless a law is made to force them otherwise) This is why the fight for physical is important we may not get our way but we should all at least try to stop companies taking away things we have purchased from them #NoDiscNoBuy

@ItZrefleX_96 @JamiesAct They didn’t make a single physical Collector Edition this generation. Nor did they release any Special/Limited Edition for their games this generation (except for TLOU2) I don’t think they would now start with it…

I think they should move physical to deluxe or ultimate editions. This leaves them as options while increasing how much they make from them, that will probably boost the sales of those versions all while letting them scale back the production of disc, just not completely. It’s a win for everyone but they let greed get in the way of their decision making.

@PlayStationHaX Not all PS3 were created equally. The european version never had the full HW PS2 compatibility and later it lost the little compatibility it had altogether.

It literally was the best PlayStation, he gave us a system that could play all our PS1 & PS2 library as well as letting us play our CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays and later we were able to run NES, SNES, Mega Drive etc games. It also had Linux 😃

@Generalkidd @NazRaiGaming @Microsoft A myth? If a single niche PC games releases on Disc as Collectors Item, then PC is not digital only? Get real. Cloud failed for a reason. They need local Data centers to reduce the latency. And for some you even had to buy the games yourself on top of the service fees.

@JohnCritton @NazRaiGaming @Microsoft It's a myth that PC has been digital only for decades. It's rare but you've always been able to get some PC games on disc. They just come on like 6+ DVDs. We've seen plenty of cloud only services come and go like OnLive (patents bought by Sony), Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, etc

@NazRaiGaming @JohnCritton @Microsoft Once physical is gone for good, before people realize it, publishers will start trying to push people onto cloud only subscriptions for accessing games. It'll be a way to "keep costs down for everyone" with a "convenient way to access your games anywhere anytime"

@Susperiumking @PlayStationCA Not the best game to proof your point… The Bracer Edition Box came without a game inside. The game was delivered as Standard Steelbook Edition as a separate unit… In the future they might just sell the physical LE stuff w/o a game at all. Like the CE for Diablo or Destiny

@PlayStationCA We need this stuff, If you are going to stop making Physical Games, then we will no longer be able to get this. I will never support you. In 2028, I will move to the Switch 2 and keep buying the best in gaming, not your trash. The last full Priced game I got from Sony was 2018.

How do I even go about saying this I can’t believe we are here. Kyoto Xanadu was created with the ambition of making Xanadu falcoms 3rd pillar and it seems like according to Kondo they don’t want to make fans wait too long for what is next. It was all worth it.
