@TylaGratton @capnkaba COD only became always online for everything in recent years, around the time of COD Vanguard. Same with other 1st party Xbox games. I wish I shared your optimism but this has become a trend with all Xbox games lately.

@Generalkidd @capnkaba Cod is always online everything. Halo Infinite, Mcc and other Halo games you can play local and this game will be no different. They even clarified today about the PS account not needing to have PS plus

Next Halo has forced DOUBLE ONLINE DRM even for couch co-op! We used to just take our saves with us on a thumb drive, but they don't even allow that anymore. Well, guess we need to look at the positives. Our test won't take long. (Screenshot from Halo Waypoint)

Glad that's been cleared up at least. PS+ is NOT required for splitscreen co op on PS5 for Halo Campaign Evolved!

We incorrectly stated that PlayStation Plus is required for local co-op splitscreen play. Local splitscreen co-op requires a PlayStation account for each player but does not require a PlayStation Plus account.

I actually don't think I ever noticed this little detail before either. Pretty cool effect! Still learning new things about old Halo games even to this very day!

Random CE fun fact I didn't know until today, Blammite crystals react when you shoot them! I never knew this so I thought I'd share in case anyone else had never seen this particle effect before

@offlinebots @capnkaba Well Infinite Warfare didn't require battlenet. And I don't think WW2 did either. Pretty sure that started with Vanguard. Like I said I'm confident Infinite Warfare did not require internet for campaign even on PC.

console versions work offline 100% minus Black Ops 6 and 7.

@offlinebots @capnkaba Yeah like I said, Infinite Warfare is the last COD game I can personally confirm didn't have an always online requirement for the campaign on PC. I'm semi confident on WW2 but can't say with absolutely certainty.

@Generalkidd @capnkaba PC versions of COD have required online for a while. Even Black Ops 2's multiplayer dosen't have offline support.
All console CODs minus Black ops 6 and 7, work fully offline for campaign, multiplayer and zombies.
Some are really shit offline like Cold War.

@offlinebots @capnkaba MW2R was the first cod game I can recall that requires an always online connection, at least on PC. Infinite Warfare is the last COD I can absolutely confirm works offline with no account or online requirement. WW2 might've been fine too but I'm not sure.

every other recent cod works offline fine.
in fact they even confirmed this years MW4 will have OFFLINE campaign.

Lot of important questions answered today in the Q&A but unfortunately it seems like this campaign only game will have an always online/account requirement. Won't be an issue for most but it likely means the disc version is useless offline if there's even anything on it 😕

@BeforeThe_Night @TylaGratton @Halo That's honestly my biggest concern about all games out there that require always online connections or mandatory accounts. MP only live service games are one thing, but campaign only games should not have such a restriction, especially in the long run.

@whatevalyn @TylaGratton I think Minecraft would be a good test of this. I'm pretty sure it does require an Xbox account to play. So does splitscreen on Minecraft also require multiple PS+ subscriptions too?

@TylaGratton @Generalkidd No because this isn't an issue in other Sony games or even Xbox published games that use Xbox accounts on PS. This is a 343 issue yet again. Same with no local multiplayer on PC.

Anyone with a PS5 able to explain how splitscreen usually works in other PS5 games? Some people are saying it might be a Sony restriction that requires all players to have a PS+ subscription. I don't own a PS5 so I'm totally clueless on this.

@capnkaba It's pretty egregious with COD too. If you lose internet connection in cod while playing campaign (this goes back to at least the MW2R era), you get kicked out. I do hope it's not the same case with Halo, but Xbox overall hasn't given me much confidence on that.

@capnkaba Unfortunately that Q&A makes it pretty clear you can't use guest profiles for this on Xbox. As for offline play, I'm not confident on that either. Other Xbox 1st party games like COD actually have account+online requirements for even the campaign for some time now.

@TylaGratton It says in the 1st paragraph that the account requirement applies to all platforms. And the original question makes it clear this applies to solo, not just co-op. It stands to reason that without an account signed in, you can't play anything at all.

@Emdecay @Forerixal They technically exist in the game files of Halo 2 and 3 but are considered cut content. And in Halo 3 they're pretty much broken too.

This is definitely unfortunate. The game actually looks really nice and I'm sure the community would've come up with a lot of amazing screenshots. But somewhat ironically, in very classic Halo fashion, the good ol blind skull method will have to do.

There are no current plans for a Photo Mode or Theater Mode in Halo: Campaign Evolved.

@ZachBeckman10 Ultimately I'd like full on theater mode to come back but I'd settle for a photo mode. Could use some nice new screenshots for my desktop background or maybe even a poster or two in my room

@Generalkidd I do think it’s time to stop omitting it from their campaigns tho so hopefully in future campaign only titles we see it return. I’d love to see them release it post launch
