📽️THE TANKER There's an extraordinary race underway on the high seas, as nations vie to secure increasingly scarce shipments of fuel. In our latest on the economics of this conflict we track one such ship & ask: why is Britain so exposed? The answer is not v reassuring. Watch👇

Introducing the new Faces. Interactive presentations that help entrepreneurs break through the static. If a website can do it, so now can your decks. Each slide is a software artifact, built for storytelling. Where others simply make deck-building faster or prettier, Faces are new interfaces for your idea, in its full glory.

Notice they don’t tell you by how much waiting lists have come down. Well, there were 7.6m waiting in July 2024 when Labour came to power. A year later there were 7.4m, still at record levels, where it’s been stuck for several months. A marginal improvement given all the extra cash Labour has thrown at the NHS. Labour propaganda is pretty pathetic.

The warning signs were there. Here’s a reminder of when Andrew Neil completely skewered Angela Rayner on the basics of taxation.

We weren't allowed to run this ad on TV in the UK, but that's fine, we can just share it online. We're using humor to make a very important point: the current financial system simply doesn't work for most people. It needs to be updated.
Coinbase 🛡️@coinbase

If everything is fine, then don’t change anything at all. But when the financial system isn’t working for so many people in the UK, it needs to be updated.

Right, time for my annual reminder. Turkey is not dry or flavourless, you haven’t been cooking it properly. Mrs Cradock taught you how to cook juicy, delicious turkey 50 years ago, so there’s absolutely no excuse. Eyes front, pay attention, no whinging.

Video from a different vantage point shows Starship Booster never came even close to hitting the tower. As far as I can tell, this was as perfect of a Mechazilla catch as SpaceX could have hoped for.

🇨🇳 CHINA'S BIRTH RATE DECLINE AND AGING POPULATION HAS MASSIVE ECONOMIC IMPACT China's population fell for the second consecutive year in 2023, dropping by 2.08 million to 1.409 billion. The working-age population decline is expected to drag GDP growth by 1% annually over the next decade. By 2050, China's population is expected to shrink to 1.317 billion and then to 732 million by 2100. Fertility rates in China have halved, and home prices have surged, making it difficult for families to afford children. Experts suggest raising the retirement age to 65 by 2035, potentially reducing the pension budget shortfall by 20%. Sources: CNBC

🚨 🇬🇧UK FACES ECONOMIC IMPACT FROM FALLING BIRTHRATE Britain's birthrate crisis is deepening, with the fertility rate dropping to 1.49 children per woman in 2022. High costs of living, climate concerns, and unstable jobs are driving the decline, says Vanessa, a 35-year-old project manager in Brighton. Half of women born in 1990 were childless by age 30, the first generation to reach this milestone. The decline threatens tax revenue and public services, with schools facing significant funding cuts.
