The QB offer market is complicated to say the least.
We verified the 2026 cycle across all 67 Power 4 schools and found 1,104 school-side QB "Official" offers. From our count, there were only 31 actual high school QB roster spots given.
That is roughly 36 offers for every 1 real spot.
And 39 of the 67 schools took zero high school quarterbacks.
That is the first reality families need to understand. An "official" offer has value. It reflects evaluation and access. But it is not the same thing as roster allocation.
The second reality is just as important. Many schools may still be acting in good faith when a QB board changes late. The problem is that quarterback recruiting is now one of the most volatile markets in football.
A staff can genuinely like a quarterback in October.
Then in December a coordinator leaves. A current QB stays. A transfer becomes available. A decommitment happens somewhere else. NIL priorities shift. The room changes. The board changes. Sometimes the literal night before signing day.
That does not always mean the offer was fake.
It means quarterback recruiting is a one-spot problem inside a moving market.
That is why families cannot confuse interest with certainty.
The serious question is not just, “Who offered?”
The serious question is, “Who still has both the need and the willingness to give one of their very limited quarterback spots to you when the market tightens?”
That is why QB recruiting is not a volume game.
It is an alignment game.
Offers matter.
Timing matters.
Roster structure matters.
Development matters.
Command matters.
When the board starts moving, the quarterbacks who survive are usually the ones staffs feel most comfortable protecting.
Visibility helps, but alignment is what turns recruiting attention into a real opportunity.

@danrmaher @mrlongshore @coachtf They are here in Southern California !!! Almost every QB here is a 1 or 2 year holdback and at least 19 when graduating, some 20…. I can give you multiple examples of you want…!
English

@mrlongshore @coachtf It can be explained any way you want…doesn’t make it less absurd or unfair to 18 year old kids.
English

@kurt13warner @ethansorensonn8 …but not any recruiting at all…! Throws great, yet all the 6’5 guys he beats get all the attention…! Frustrating as hell every day lately…!
English

@kurt13warner My son @ethansorensonn8 is a 2027 QB. He is only 17, a nonholdback at 6’ but growing; 4.5 GPA; runs under a 4.50 40, strong (bench, clean, squat over 800lbs), told by local SoCal media one of top dual threats in SoCal, takes over games when given a chance…
English

@GregBiggins @TheUCReport How about we start posting birthdates so we know who is a 20 year old holdback and who is a Normal 17 year old senior. Give us reality and let every know the Truth…! Give the younger players a chance!!!
English

@sportsmaniac031 @JamesALight Tell that to college recruiters who only look at a QB’s that are 6’4” or taller…!

Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid - Don't Judge
- "Don't put people in a box. You never know once you open the box for them what's going to pop out. Give them a chance. Give them a chance to dream a little bit and still work at whatever they want to be."
- "You never know what a player is going to surprise you with that they're able to do. Get to know the person. As coaches we try to exploit the strengths of the player & then we'll work on the things they're not good at and try to get them better at those things as we go. Let them shine, let them them do their thing."
- "We have a tendency to do that as humans, we kind of put people in these boxes and tell them they can't do it."

@RossDellenger @YahooSports So the 2-3 year High School holdbacks who play at 19 or 20 competing against 17 year olds that don’t holdback are now screwed in college?!?…. Hell yes! Finally a fix to the problem!!!! Bring it on!

The NCAA is exploring a significant change to its eligibility rule, sources tell @YahooSports. The proposal creates an age-based standard: Athletes would have 5 years of eligibility from their 19th birthday or HS graduation.
No redshirts or waivers.

This isn't as cool and sassy as you think it is ...just play Notre Dame when you are supposed to. You are destroying our pride and identity and being petty while doing it. Stop getting in recruiting twitter fights

@SCF4L @bh_thereal @Theoldp They already had Wisconsin scheduled and that was previously from an earlier date change and locked in with tv network…. Get your facts right not the fake propaganda…
English

@bh_thereal @Theoldp They can get an NCAA waiver. The NCAA wouldn't deny it since it was one of the longest standing rivalries. It was on the table. Notre Dame wouldn't even disciss it. USC was negotiating in good faith while Notre Dame was backdooring them with BYU.

@kurt13warner Would live to get him @ethansorensonn8 some classroom film time with you. Do you ever do that stuff or in camps?
English

@JohnSorenson If he can make plays that fast over and over, it bodes well to play with any team!!

I think the best way to truly evaluate who a QB is, would be to see them in a pass 1st, pass often situation… I don’t even really care how much they win, but I want to see them with the pressure on them every time they step on the field!
Yes, their numbers will likely be less ideal if in those situations, but do they consistently perform?? Do they show ability to handle being “the reason”? Do they overcome a bad game or throw, knowing there is no relief on the other side??
Of all the ways I believe Arena football helped me I felt this was most beneficial… expected to score every time I touched ball! Never could count on anything but throwing the ball! Always had to bounce back to carry team!
If a QB can do this & play consistently, you’ve got someone who can play IMO!!

There was a touching moment at the end of the Funeral Mass for legendary Irish coach Lou Holtz today. As the casket passed by, 1987 Heisman Trophy Winner Tim Brown leans out to pay his final respects to his former coach. Seconds later, Brown shares a hug with Lou’s son Skip.
