The fact the Capitals weakened their defense at the deadline, failed to add offense and got two rentals who are healthy scratches is not exactly paying dividends.

The top of the center market moved quickly. Tyler Linderbaum and Cade Mays have both already agreed to deals. I continue to think that Nick Allegretti will get the first chance at starting, but that WSH will sign another center to push him/ compete in camp.

@ngreenberg Why would he come back to this? Two trade deadlines and offseasons and what did CP accomplish? Sourdif, beauviller? Give me a break. The end of OVi career and the GM comes up with moves like that.

No idea of the future but fans should absolutely get a glimpse of Ovechkin in a Caps sweater this season because who knows if it will be his last. If I was a fan I'd treat it like it was, esp based on Carlson and Dowd trades. Also, get a Wilson sweater with a C, just in case...

@John_Atchison Right, they pushed off any major changes, even a recall. They needed to try to fix the issues before today, and then not pull the plug on it.

Liljegren has a $3M cap hit, and the last year of a 2-year deal and a pending UFA.
