@casey1167 @pjgurry Just to state what may not be obvious to all, moving away from the NASB as an English translation is not equivalent to moving away from “what the original text says.” All translations are … translations.

@pjgurry The CSB moved away from the NASB in the 2017-2020 update.

Okay, very niche observation here, but I think the only mainstream Bible translations to use the contractions “can’t” and “won’t” are: —NET —NLT —HCSB/CSB (I’m excluding paraphrases.)

@WillStandridge My experience in studying this book in a small group is that everyone felt guilty for having kids, owning a house, saving for the future, & doing other good things. It made us feel like, in order to be true christians, we had to turn our lives upside down. It's not Christianity.

Positive. People need to quit being such weirdos about it. It’s not perfect. But books like this, Don’t Waste Your Life, and others were great. (And I still have a family and live near where I grew up)

@JoshuaBarzon I feel like a lot of the criticism now is attached to things that came later. But as for the book itself, it’s very helpful to waken Christians up from their stupor toward the centrality of missions to the Christian life. But I also like to temper it with books like Ordinary.

Plus the Jerusalem cross pre-exists them so it’s not very original. But the result is pretty for what is in this post.
