Beautiful sunrise over @GCPURBECK this morning, the dry start to the year along with windy conditions leave players with tricky conditions. Also leaves Greenkeepers concerned about moisture levels.

@Rossco8822 Just find it strange as I have never seen it before, did think it may be down to the drying down of the profile. Also the volume of sand we put in during maintenance, just find the bunker scenario the weirdest. They are in every bunker 🤔
English

@Johnhockkey Would say it's something to do with how dry it's been combined with the iron maybe? Get the fuckers hoovered up if you can tho
English

@pazza20001 @ChelseaFC You haven’t spent 1 billion in four transfer windows 🫣
English

@Johnhockkey @ChelseaFC Could be worse mate you could support Leicester 🦊😞

@theJeremyVine This was driver error and you can clearly see that it is a poor road/cycle lane layout. I must comment that for someone that promotes safe cycling and road use, I find it amazing that you are not wearing a helmet in this video. Shocking really!!
English

Literally 80% of the replies to this say it was my fault for... well, have a look. It's exhausting really.

This guy yesterday nearly caught me. He stopped for me — or so I thought.
English

@theJeremyVine I think this is a good idea, using the taxes the cyclist pay to increase the size of the cycle route is completely plausible. I will wait for your reply😂 it may take as long as waiting for the revenue to complete the project 🫣

@davidjewatson @NCG_com @NCGTop100s We are rising In the rankings, but offer very competitive green fees. Our twilight golf prices are second to none 👍🏻
English

@NCG_com @NCGTop100s I used to love ranking lists to open your eyes, but now dislike them as it gives clubs incentives to increase green fees to bank busting rates. Rankings are totally personal and not actually reflective of the actual top 100 courses, as some clubs choose to be excluded. Played 87.

Great to see @GCPURBECK rising in the England top 100 rankings over the past three years. Big thanks has to go to the teams hard work and dedication in pushing the course forward and the owners for their continued support @JoeLamb94 @NCGTop100s

English

@GJRobertsTurf @GCPURBECK @ListerWilderGC @HuntForestGroup The challenge comes with how long it takes for the heather to establish compared to the competitive species that try and fill the area after removal.
English

@Johnhockkey @GCPURBECK @ListerWilderGC @HuntForestGroup Amazing how long the seed bed stays viable for. We have a lot of bell heather around the course and hoping to let it naturally regen where we pull out gorse
English

Continued investment at @GCPURBECK has seen the club purchase a new 3.5 tonne digger and new trailer. The digger comes with a wrights 90 degree wrist that will allow shaping.ditch, and path works to be completed in house. Thanks to @ListerWilderGC @HuntForestGroup 👍🏻

English

@GJRobertsTurf @GCPURBECK @ListerWilderGC @HuntForestGroup We are lucky enough to have access to a large volume of neighbouring heathland to take turf and brash, we will use brash on the larger areas and turf on projects close to irrigation. But there is no doubt there is a natural seed bed underneath
English

@Johnhockkey @GCPURBECK @ListerWilderGC @HuntForestGroup Ah! We’re lucky not to have bracken, it’s just the gorse regen and giving anything else a chance to come back in areas with as little as an inch of topsoil before it’s shingle. Have you had much Heather regen? Or are you looking for any natural regen other than gorse or bracken
English

@GJRobertsTurf @GCPURBECK @ListerWilderGC @HuntForestGroup We have seen some heather regeneration from scraped areas. Now that we have implemented a links cutting style of fairways then 2passes of rough at 2inch, we are starting to see natural regeneration in the longer rough areas. We are harvesting brash and spreading it in large areas
English

@GJRobertsTurf @GCPURBECK @ListerWilderGC @HuntForestGroup The issue is bracken taking hold of the area, again on brownsea they tried scraping out the top 8 inch after removal and still found it came back 🙄
English

@Johnhockkey @GCPURBECK @ListerWilderGC @HuntForestGroup Are you burning the root mass too or dumping it to break it down? We do similar to that and also trying the flail head to mulch down the gorse then scrape it up and take it away on really undulating areas. It’s what to do with all the waste that’s tough too.
English

@GJRobertsTurf @GCPURBECK @ListerWilderGC @HuntForestGroup We are burning all material that comes out, including the root mass we remove. Then 12 months later spraying off the new growth, I was talking to a gentleman doing the removal on brownsea and they are spraying it off 6months before removal.
English

@GJRobertsTurf @GCPURBECK @ListerWilderGC @HuntForestGroup It’s a tough one, we have tried a few different methods. Current process seems to have less regrowth compared to the first process we tried, we rip out and then pull through the soil to get extra roots out. Then flail the area with no wheels or roller to remove surface nutrients
English

@Johnhockkey @GCPURBECK @ListerWilderGC @HuntForestGroup The rake is a great attachment for cleans up without taking away excess top soil.
Yeah hectares of the stuff here to get rid of, just finding the best method for our site. Sounds like a plan mate! Always welcome! 👍🏻
English

@GJRobertsTurf @GCPURBECK @ListerWilderGC @HuntForestGroup Looking at possibly getting a rake and thumb attachment for works in the future. Great bit of kit. Looks like you are getting through the gorse removal at your place as well. Hopefully pop down and see you in the new year 👍🏻
English

@Johnhockkey @GCPURBECK @ListerWilderGC @HuntForestGroup Great investment mate! Once you have one you’ll always find jobs for it!! Kubota make class excavators
