@GolfFourSeasons @MaxBogey Love the old National! Nothing says safe like putting all your weight over one wing to get traction and avoid sliding! No one else on the team could do banks like I could back then. Lost a good pair of waterproof trousers to the rear unit one summer, and a water bottle!

@MaxBogey When the green surrounds were really steep you had to stand on the one uphill unit of the old-school National

The old Turf Truckster brings back some fun memories. This one is 30+ years old and still purrs like a kitten.

@GolfFourSeasons Love the old turf truckster. Me and my dad on one of his at North Middlesex GC in the early 90s. Remember driving one as an apprentice in the rain. Made a quick on a fairway turn and slid across the wet bench seat almost falling off 😂

The final part of the work on the 8th (Crater) as we create a sandscrape within the dunes that separates the fairway and greens complex. Some of my favourite time is spent in the excavator and it’s been like that since I first used one as a kid.

2 of 3 changes to the 8th hole complete in time for Christmas. Removing the fairway pot bunker in exchange for a naturalised bunkers. The granite path between the fairway and approach has been stripped & replaced with a more rustic sleeper path meandering through the dunes

Great to hear you all enjoyed your round even in the Baltic rain to start it off! Look forward to seeing you down south again soon! Appreciate the kind words.

Our first visit to @Haylinggolfclub this week and it blew our socks off. Remarkably firm surfaces thanks to the shingle beach below, endlessly engaging Tom Simpson holes, and immaculate presentation from @GJRobertsTurf and his team. One thought was echoed throughout the round - big Rye vibes in the dunescape, routing, the winter conditioning and the odd pillbox. Definitely won’t wait long before returning.

@AlanGStrachan @EcoBunkerLtd Cheers Alan, yeah all bunkers here are lined purely becuase of the shingle. A blessing in the winter when wet, a nightmare in the summer or when shaping! Family are all good, hope all is well with you.

@GJRobertsTurf @EcoBunkerLtd Nice work Graeme and team Hayling, do you line all your bunkers, assume it’s to prevent shingle coming up? Hope all the family are well.

A first at Hayling as we installed @EcoBunkerLtd to replace our practice bunker. Ideal alternative for its location and frequency of use. Finishing touches around it next week. Finished up the week adding a bout marker setup to our Vicon for its first outing next week.

@johnstone1974 Yeah that’s it. I’ve always wanted to do one with one side turf up vs one side turf down just to see how the mature over time. We have the same issue. This bunker was built winter of ‘22 but foxes had destroyed the face over the last 8 months.

@GJRobertsTurf Never seems to be a right and wrong answer. We go face down as it seems to produce less growth but still have to spray and possibly burn. Sadly animals or a few thins into the face undoes a lot of hard work. 😢

First bunker of the winter. A rebuild sooner than we’d like but necessary. Something so incredibly satisfying about a good recent bunker build. Fortunate to have a great team with a great eye for detail for these projects.

@johnstone1974 Yeah, we’ve always gone turf up. In the hope of some rooting between layers for structural integrity as it grows in. Once it’s grown in we’ll spray the faces off and burn them as we can’t sustain consistent grass coverage on the faces down here

The devil is in the details. Phenomenal job by the team on these two projects this week. So fortunate to have great a great team to go on the journey to raise the bar at Hayling GC
