Started watching the original Popeye shorts from the start (1933) and appalled at how racist the second short was, (especially for the time) cause it ends with Popeye punching a Native American chief so hard the chief is transformed into Mahatma Gandhi. What the hell?!

@MattD_SC It's as simple as this. People have been conditioned to think that bearhugs are boring and bad. Because many of them have been. Also because they've been told it. So when they see it done well, they can't recognize the "work rate" that's right in front of their eyes.

Over the years, the prevailing critical tool to judge and rate wrestling has been "workrate," the notion of how much action happens in a match. In a bearhug, almost nothing happens along those lines: feet planted, tiny movements. But so much emotion can be portrayed nonetheless.

@hollinger @elliottswrstlin That guy is the single, solitary reason why PWO declined more than anything else, far more than even Parv. He made every discussion unpleasant/tried to invalidate it but was structural in a way you couldn’t just put him on ignore. But I’m good. I said what I said, moved on.

Since I stopped watching for GWE the last few months, I've watched like a year or so of Prime Time Wrestling, starting with Heenan starting. It's so easy to watch and lots of fun. Wreslting is not just great matches.
