@SimonHbikes George told me about that crash when I interviewed him for Tony Rutters book. He and Tony raced that same bike at Suzuka. They had to ship it to Japan pretty much as it was when it came to a stand still after that accident, and they repaired it in Tokyo before the 8hr race.

Wrote a feature for @fastbikesmag about chassis design and manufacturing. The loads that a chassis has to cope with are huge, and the different design concepts and materials used are fascinating. Luckily, there’s a lot of people in the UK who know a lot about the subject.

@Manxy He could reach the kill switch. We make sure every control is set to the exact location he wants them. In the moment, his instinct was to pull the clutch to catch the wheelie, and let the bike just rev flat out.

Rutter had a stuck open throttle heading down Bray Hill,😱 he said he couldn't stop it....pulling clutch in did nothing, couldn't reach killswitch, he somehow managed to get it under control, pulled over at Quarterbridge and a tear off had covered the carbs 😱. #MGP 🇮🇲 💩 💩 💩
