Giving a shit about people is not only the right way a society should function, it's also a more cost effective solution. Providing apartments with support is cheaper than bearing the costs of emergency healthcare and criminal justice services required for individuals living on the streets.

@MeddlinMegs @fuckyouiquit If I am wrong, and the asylum costs more, I would still support it because it’s shameful for our nation to fail to take care of our homeless population and allow them to live on the streets. The role of government is to protect people within its borders.

@LonghousePrep Decent. A combat load is considered 7 mags, some say 6 backups makes 7, but more in a backpack is desirable. IFAK and hydration are non-negotiables, and role-specific gear. Land nav gear (paper, pencil, compass, protractor), yes. Comms you want; teamlead and up, you NEED.

For a theory I want to test: What’s considered an acceptable combat load for the average person either in the mil or during mil type training as a civ? I’d say: - 6 mags - comms - IFAK - throwable (or way to carry one) - hydration for the duration - land nav gear - role specific gear Is this considered to be a decent generalization?

@Johnson__Anon @fuckyouiquit Maybe not, but I bet they can. I firmly believe the DoD is overpaying for everything. A lot of it has to do with them not having experts in every field and not understanding what the costs actually are.

This is the vegetable omelet MRE. It costs the U.S. government approximately $12.50 per meal for the full MRE. SNAP benefits per person per meal in the U.S. is approximately $2.00. These people are fucking idiots who just hate poor people.

@Davelite93 @fuckyouiquit Im afraid I was just a supply sergeant for an infantry company and not involved in the inner workings of the DOD contracts so that is a question above my level of knowledge. I think it’s a contract for a total number of units over a period of time for a set dollar amount.
