After a short stay on our moorings in Shardlow for family time, we've heading downstream on the R Trent heading for the Chesterfield Canal. The weather window until Tues is looking good but the high September tides on the tidal Trent might be interesting on Mon & Tues 😬🌊🤔

@ccwild79 Friends of ours are foster carers. One of tge young people who benefited from their care said that they were treated like a car. They said that people just parked them in different places and left them there. It really made me sit up and take notice

Imagine being 15, living in a care home, and being told to pack up because you're moving again. Given a black bin bag for your belongings, like your life is disposable. A taxi picks you up at 9pm after your social worker's shift ended at 5. You arrive alone with your life in a bin liner. The best leaders are not at all competitive. They aren’t constantly trying to outdo their peers [even behind their backs], stamp their higher authority on their team or demonstrate their superiority. There is no need. The team & the collective achievement of outcomes is their job

Some councils say they are only two or three more children in care away from bankruptcy. Children & young people are carrying their lifelong belongings in bin bags from “placement” to “placement” Heartbreaking for them & hugely costly. The system is destroying lives & local govt.
