Under Ottoman rule, which lasted nearly four centuries, the people of Mount Lebanon faced oppression, famine, displacement, persecution, and repeated violence. During the Ottoman genocide of Christians between 1914 and 1923, hundreds of thousands of Christians across the region — including Maronites, Assyrians, and Armenians — perished through massacres, starvation, forced deportations, and war 🕯️ Yet despite all this, the Maronites never abandoned their Syriac soul.
