@claisen34gmail1@Makemba@drlucymcbride Like I said in previous posts, there are many factors that play into this. Masking is one of them, when you pull one out of the equation, the formula is working as well as intended. that’s why Taiwan had low deaths before and even now.
@Jolene156@Makemba@drlucymcbride But Taiwan had low deaths before mass vaccination. There is little correlation right now, so you can't just equate high vaccination with success.
Today I swabbed yet another triple-vax'd patient for SARSCoV2: + PCR
She has a stuffy nose & mild sore throat.
The worse symptom? Guilt. "I did everything right."
We discussed isolation & alert/test contacts.
I reassured her that vax is working & this is not a moral failure
@claisen34gmail1@Makemba@drlucymcbride They did that bc they locked down for weeks, while the government generated free masks requiring everyone to where once lockdown was over. So while they waited on mass vaccination, they took precautions on slowing the potential spread. That’s how. US can’t even agree on masks
@anita_novey@drlucymcbride You do know that all those you mentioned…. There’s still couple of thousand or hundred cases each year lol. There are still ppl who are fully vaccinated and still got measles or rubella. Vaccines are preventable, but not 100% 😆
@vitpoto@drlucymcbride Nah disagree , a lot of ppl who get the flu shots every year still get the flu. But it doesn’t kill them and/or the symptoms aren’t as bad for them.
when you talk about measles or small pox, those were mandated vaccines , so herd immunity was possible and achieved.
@Jolene156@drlucymcbride You are saying this because the definition of vaccine has been changed. In the old days vaccines did help you not to get the sickness. You are just repeating the new "no make sence science " this is not a vaccine that they give you. Soon everyone will find out what it is.💥
@CostenoJames@drlucymcbride 😆Herd immunity doesn’t work by hitting 2 weeks, it works when you reach vaccination at a high %, higher than 70% is when herd immunity is possible. We didn’t even reach that threshold, & struggled with masking. So we never reached herd immunity, & the window has already passed
@Jolene156@drlucymcbride The whole idea was to have immunity remember two weeks to flatten the curve and then we have to get herd immunity everybody needs to be vaccinated blah blah blah blah it’s all bullshit.
if you’re in a high-risk demographic Jabba way otherwise leave us the fuck alone
@DebiTyreeAuthor@drlucymcbride The failure isn’t in the vaccination, it’s failure in social science. Not taking into account social science during policy making and when providing public health guidance to our country as a whole is one of the driving factors why we are still struggling with the pandemic.
@jamescrivelli_@drlucymcbride Cause now the virus will continue to mutate , more variants… not being able to be ahead of all of this long term may have dire consequences. it’s not all black and white, most of the things in life aren’t, especially living things.
@drlucymcbride Haha the responses are entertaining to say the least. 😆 herd immunity only happens when a certain% is reached, which we didn’t reach as a country. There’s a few factors that all have to be taken into account, when one is pulled out of the equation, formula doesn’t work as well.
@drlucymcbride Seeing so many struggle w/ the concept of vaccines is equally hilarious and alarming. Just like seat belts keep you safe but won’t prevent you from getting into an accident, vaccines reduces the chances of you dying or being on a ventilator, doesn’t prevent you from catching it🙄
@Makemba@drlucymcbride Taiwan also has the least Covid-19 deaths and everyone is vaccinated lol. Everyone there masked without complaints, got the vaccines, and followed their cdc rules. They’re one of the first countries to contain their cases. 🤷🏽♀️ and gave out billions of masks to other countries.
@Jolene156@drlucymcbride You're talking like the US doesn't have more deaths than anyone in the world and one of the worst COVID records! You just don't count the pp who DIE after being vaxxed and you just ignore the excellent record of Africa with the least COVID deaths in the world.
@Dickwolfsmommy@joussska@SparkyLynx@quakerraina Agreed! 😊. And could’ve responded better without coming across as competing. But its the same the other way too. It’s a two way street. Just as I’ve seen it happen to black ppl by other poc, I also see it done to poc by black ppl. If only theres a refresh button to all this😅
@joussska@Jolene156@SparkyLynx@quakerraina you said exactly what i wanted to sayyyy and worded it so well when someone’s talking about a negative experience they had and were hurt from it doesn’t become a competition i see this happen sm to black people by other poc
@Rayan_5SOS@SparkyLynx@quakerraina Haha, damn gurl. No need to be sensitive! that’s a different thing altogether. Since when do we loop everything together 🙂. But I’m just stating a fact as a response to the post. I get the frustrations and a lot of us get it on a constant basis too.😔
5 kids - ranging from 11 to 15 years old - busted after Oakland carjacking, armed robbery of woman in downtown Walnut Creek, theft of laptop from @peetscoffee on Fourth St.+ injury crash at San Pablo & University in Berkeley, per @oaklandpoliceca@walnutcreekpd@berkeleypolice
@KwaiChang5@AsianDawn4 Reform youths…so there’s no criteria on who gets picked, as long as you’re black? The dumbest reform I’ve heard of, if you’re willing to “reform” someone who has a long history of conscious crime that equates to 30 years in prison. If it’s one time, sure… but 20 burglaries…
@AsianDawn4 "Khari Kendrick was supposed to be sentenced to 30 years in prison for a string of 20 burglaries...but he was freed after serving only three years by the state parole commission in an attempt to help reform African-American youths"--Well now that worked out real well didn't it?
