It IS related and countless cases have been reported by practitioners. If you want to hold your breath SAFELY: Do NOT hyperventilate before. Then prioritize breath-holds on FULL lungs rather than after an exhale.

@ErwanLeCorre Any evidence of prolonged breath holding contributing to tinnitus? While doing the Wim Hof program I noticed an uptick in tinnitus, but I am not convinced it was due to the program itself and not unrelated factors.

The brain never gets deprived of oxygen; that's a myth. This can only occur if you pass out and spend minutes without breathing before being rescued. On the contrary, cerebral blood flow and brain oxygenation increase during prolonged breath-holds. This can even give you a euphoric feeling afterward.

@DrHueyLi Do you think the average person in Fujian would consider Taiwan life to be a better existence? I assumed that nationalism would negate this.

@JonKDickerson It's hard to describe how the lack of basic freedom gnaws at you unless you personally experience it.

This may be surprising to outsiders, but let me tell you this: If one day a Taiwan-funded Chinese military group makes an incursion into Fujian, the locals will be sending them flowers.
