I think a lot of the disconnect on school reopenings is that there's this binary debate about whether opening schools is "safe" or not when the honest argument for opening them is that it's *pretty* safe and the consequences of keeping them closed are potentially *very* bad.

@KenWallace207 Your argument can be used against your stance as to why we need testing. The effects of our decisions over the last nine months can be partly measured by student achievement. If we believe in data informed decision making, then we can learn from these tests.

We should only do standardized testing during a Pandemic IF we standardize conditions for every single student, from devices to connectivity, responsive supports, food security. When some students' families hire tutors while others aren't connected, what's being measured anyway?

The New Jersey Department of Education released a memo in anticipation of administering all statewide standardized assessments. I cannot think of a less responsive, more ridiculous statement. They have no idea of the day-to-day struggle of teaching. We are barely above water.
