Because of AI's ability to deeply know you, I think the implication of AI on social networks won't be AI generated content. I think it will be humanizing every person, and therefore interaction, on the internet.

This week I learned that 80% of people on the internet do not have sarcasm detection firmware installed. Surprising.

@zendadddy Couldn’t agree more. every high level designer I talk to feels similarly. Raw enthusiasm and excitement to bring to life any idea you have. And the higher level you get, the more ideas you have.

Lots of talk about AI taking over design. I used to have AI-anxiety, now I have AI-excitement. The unlock for how much impact I can have as a designer is insane. No more time spending on storytelling decks, more time in prod making stuff happen. I barely use the traditional design tools anymore. I'm building all of my own stuff, custom to what I need and making updates daily. Need a Trello board? I'm making it in 5 seconds. Loom? Spin up a camera-capture feature. I always treated my side projects and day job as 2 separate things - one I could jump straight into code, the other I had to operate very differently to make things happen within corporate structures. No more. I haven't been this excited to build in years.

@dinkin_flickaa I just know somewhere at X there's a PM who can't sleep after this release because of the feed space that is lost when the video dock is up

As part of this launch, we updated the shader used to represent ChatGPT. I used Blender to quickly sketch a wide variety of options and had Codex inspect the file and translate the material to Metal and WebGL.

@madsmccaus @hobdaydesign The line isn’t drawn at what is physically shown in the experience. The line is drawn at how the experience makes you feel. The Duolingo example, though depicting death, feels fun because of art direction not because of the topic of the drawing.

Right. So you're saying there's an unwritten rule that the design of mobile apps, in their inherent state, should't evoke negative emotion, which makes me wonder - why, and where does the line get drawn? The Duolingo zombie app icon comes to mind. We could consider it negative because it's illustrating death, snot, sickness, etc., but (I'll assume) we still think of it as positive/fun because the brand's reputation and history of being fun, playful and having lots of positive connotations.

One of my favorite design details in Loupe are the placeholder avatars: a random combination of color + 30 illustrations that create unique faces for each user. loupe.id

@TobiasWhetton This visual design is sick! UX note: I’d think it might be a bit more usable if you could choose neighborhoods as pins on the map around you vs in a list. That will make the distance between you and each neighborhood more clear

Possibly the worst screen I’ve seen in my life. No search and not sorted alphabetically. How are you supposed to find someone.
