(People get confused about this one.) Great Linebackers play DOWNHILL. And that doesn’t mean they fly into the line of scrimmage at the snap. It means they play like the field is literally tilted. Gaining ground with every step, closing space, suffocating the ball carrier.

Linebackers: Master your movement skills. Low pads. Loose hips. Square shoulders.

Linebackers: Eyes win. Bad eyes lead to: Slow reads. Poor angles. Missed tackles. Fix the eyes FIRST. Everything else will fall into place.

what Situation you can use this in? not making sense to me. -you see run -misdirect and SWAT the OL hand? -giving up your chest? so confused. 1⃣ thats a lot of garbage to get thru 2⃣if OL ass opp of LB the RB run outside his ass 3⃣scrap n make play? 4⃣taught to get skinny?

@JonSvecX yea this might be the worst drill on earth. im not getting it. you see run, you swat an OL? hand like this and give him you chest? i was always tought to reduce your Size or blokcing area. this drill literally make it bigger.

A simple Linebacker drill to work: Change of direction. Swat. Arm Over. Dominate the details.

Linebackers: The fundamentals matter. Stance Angles Pursuit Tackling Footwork Movement Hand Position Eye Placement Block Destruction Dominate the details.

Linebackers: Focus on the fundamentals.

Linebackers: You’re missing tackles because your APPROACH is wrong. Own your leverage. Take the right angle. Use the proper footwork. The tackle happens before the hit.

Linebackers: Track the hip. Stay SQUARE. Keep your leverage.

Linebackers: Yes… If you improve your 40 time, you’ll play faster. But you’ll also play faster if you improve your: -Reads -Angles -Footwork Efficiency = Speed

“Slow” Linebackers usually aren’t slow. They’re just confused. Simplify the picture… Then watch your Linebackers fly around the field.

Linebackers: Shed Blocks. Move. Tackle. Focus on the fundamentals.

How to play Linebacker: -Know the situation -Good stance and alignment -Clear read -Efficient first steps -Move -Destroy/Avoid blocks -Finish with a solid tackle Simple.

When Linebackers try to see everything… They see nothing. When they start reading their KEYS… They start making plays all over the field.

Linebackers: You don’t need to take on every block. If you’re out in open space: -Step to avoid. -Dip the near shoulder. -Rip, step, and stack to finish. Then go make the play.
