The decision to end Salford’s scholarship and academy pathway is a significant one. We recognise the financial challenges involved, but remain disappointed for the players, families and staff affected. We look forward to the promised review of the pathway in year one. The 1873

I'm told Salford currently have no coach travel for the game this weekend as the club owes the transport company and they won't provide further service. They also don't have access to their kit because the laundrette is owed money and won’t give kit back until they're paid.

@J_Burns15 Even at 18’s level there’s never been any poaching. If lads decide to move over to Roosters it’s nothing to do with the coaches promising them anything. It’s a lazy argument with no truth in it.

@Jonah_Marc I’ll believe it when I see it mate! It’s more they go to college and go play for the 18s more than OA. Our 16s had to fold and move straight to OA before 3/4 years ago due to 4/5 going to the college pathway and moving over to Eccles.

@J_Burns15 Did you watch the interview he literally said he will be going to all the local clubs. I’ve been involved in the open age there for years and can’t tell you of one player who’s been ‘promised more game time’ so come and play for us 🤷🏻‍♂️

@Jonah_Marc There’s at least 5/6 that have played for other clubs until 16, went to college and moved over. There’s no issue with them knowing the local scene but actually go out and look not just pick from your club. Saints, Wigan & Warrington are activity looking in the area.

@J_Burns15 Name 1 player? We have been accused of this for years, it’s never happened. Surely it’s better to have someone who knows the local amateur scene, than an outsider with no knowledge? Salford have tried this before and before you know it the academy is full of Wigan/Saints lads.

@Jonah_Marc For years coaches from Eccles have taken a number of college players who play for other local teams with promises they’ll get more game time. Mr King stated they had interested from ex super league and NRL players but pick a local coach again for a role within the club.
