Interesting how Europe wants to push high risk AI compliance to December 2027 or 2028. Talk about deciding who will be on the committee to decide what color lock to use on the barn door after the horses escaped.

The Trump administration has informed Anthropic, Google and OpenAI that they are discussing the creation of new AI oversight procedures that would potentially require new AI models to pass a safety review before being cleared for release. Mythos has changed things.

Today, @BuchananBen and I co-author a piece in the New York Times with a simple message: While we disagree on plenty, we believe AI has national security implications which deserve a careful and bipartisan government response. We can (and should) have partisan fights about all manner of AI issues, but catastrophic risk from AI shouldn’t be one of them.

🚨 Anthropic co-founder says there’s a 60% chance AI starts improving itself by 2028. Soon, AI may not need any of us.

"There are clear steps the government can take that both parties can agree on. But Washington lacks urgency. Unless we change course, A.I. systems will overwhelm the capacity of a distracted and sclerotic U.S. government to manage their development" nytimes.com/2026/05/04/opi…

NYT reporting that the White House is considering an executive order to require AI models to undergo a review before public release. TERRIBLE IDEA!!! Let's look at why.

I’m coming to the conclusion that the biggest challenge for Enterprise AI, and AI in general , as of now, is that it’s still impossible to make sure that everyone gets the same answer to the same question, every time. Which is a great response to the doomers. AI doesn’t know the consequences of its output. Judgement and the ability to challenge AI output is becoming increasingly necessary, and valuable. Which makes domain knowledge more valuable by the second. Am I wrong ?

Hearing about a lot of layoffs and Frozen offers across five continents. It's not the economy. If we don't address this now it will be addressed under circumstances we won't like later. UHI was floated, start the conversation and put it on a timer to deploy it.

When true AGI is around us, any new jobs will be done by that same AGI no? Otherwise isn't really AGI? Catch-22. @sama would be interesting to hear what these jobs are and why only humans can do them.

If DeepSeek + Kimi merge, it is classic China: consolidate the best, scale it globally. They did it with rail, steel, nuclear, telecom. Meanwhile: OpenAI vs Elon Musk, Google vs Anthropic, talent wars everywhere in the West. Guess where you'll see the synthetic outlaw rise.

EU rushed into AI regulation. Draghi report blamed regulation for EU falling behind. You can't regulate yourself into a viable AI model. This is what happens when you misframe the problem and diagnose it accordingly.

@AISafetyMemes Misleading polymarket. And wouldn't it be a funny twist if a near peer nation was the one behind pushing these moratoriums while keeping its objectives intact?

Seeing more engagement farmers with "AI consciousness" and "AI personhood". tweak a model to answer a certain way (positive reinforcement) and then show the outcome of those results as an "aha!" moment. Don't fall for it. Right now it's an optimization engine.
