The end of my term as Editor of Personality and Social Psychology Review is profoundly bittersweet. While it is a relief not to oversee the day-to-day influx of manuscripts, I will greatly miss the opportunity to work with this stellar team on a journal I am so proud of.

(In a delightful twist, my new segment got stitched together with a rebroadcast of an older episode featuring the incomparable Eli Finkel, one of my grad school professors, whose work on marriage is captivating. I couldn’t ask for a better Hidden Brain buddy!)

🔥BIG NEWS🔥 I'm making my off-Broadway debut on 10/4! Never fear: I'm *not* acting. Instead, I'm doing a post-show Q&A w/ the director of a new play inspired by Danny Kahneman's book THINKING, FAST AND SLOW. The play was written by the Tony Award-winning Jonathan Spector and is called THIS MUCH I KNOW. It's about a psychology professor's search for his missing wife, which launches a time-hopping fugue. The Guardian gave this staging ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and called it "An invigorating theatrical brainteaser." I'm incredibly excited to join Hayley Finn (who is Theater J’s Artistic Director and the Director of this show) onstage to discuss how behavioral science has woven its way into the plot of THIS MUCH I KNOW (as well as any other questions thrown at us about my field). I couldn't possibly be more excited to see "Kufre n Quay" later this month. Levi Mngomezulu, who is playing Kufre, has been one of our son's best friends since first grade and I have watched his theatrical growth over those years. I'm sure he will absolutely shine.

Hey! This may come as a surprise, but I'm happy to announce that I've accepted a position as an associate professor at Washington University in St. Louis. It won't start *next* year (August 2026). I'm bummed to leave Michigan and all my friends but excited for this next step!

For my book I’m looking to interview people who have an experience of “the danger of a single story.” Have you had an experience where you felt reduced to one storyline, maybe some category (race, gender, sexuality, etc.), or some other thing that seemed to trump everything else?

Books take a really long time to come into the world, so look for this one in February 2027. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to talking with YOU to shape this book about identity!

And, while I have missed @OlinCollege, I want to give a HUGE shout-out to my community of Fellows in the @newhouse_center at @Wellesley this year, who have been the most dreamy colleagues to work alongside on this project.

As many of you know, I’ve spent this sabbatical year working on a book project. I’m thrilled to announce that, as of yesterday, I officially have a contract with @penguinrandom’s @Avery_Books imprint to publish the book!
