@JonathanMEP Very sad. Ann Widdecombe was a person of a type that does not really exist any more, but that we all remember from our younger days. People liked her because she had that authenticity, even if they did not agree with her.

Interesting to hear Charles Moore speak on Margaret Thatcher at the Chalke history festival yesterday. Asked about Reform and Nigel Farage he said Thatcher had told him privately that she thought Britain should leave the EU, that she had broken the whip to vote against Maastricht and it was this treaty which led to @Nigel_Farage leaving the Conservatives and developing successful parties which have led to Reform UK. -A good analysis!

Good news! Reform won 7 council by-elections last night. Take the St Helens Town Centre Ward, last up in 2022. We went from 0% to 39%, smashing Labour. The Conservatives got 3.6%. They are no longer a national party. In Wilnecote Ward in Tamworth, we thrashed the Conservatives. Our vote was up +33%, theirs down -20%. We also won big in Cambridgeshire, Rhyl South, Nuneaton and Staffordshire. Across the country, people get it. Britain is broken. Only Reform will fix it!

10 years ago, we all dared to dream that the dawn was breaking on an independent United Kingdom.
