@StockTalks21 Coaching is huge. As an example, l would say that if l were guessing and knew nothing about the players on the team, I would pick Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State, Illinois or Wisconsin to win the Big Ten next year based upon history and coaching

Remember to be careful about proclaiming teams as contenders based on the portal without seeing them play. Past examples include Kansas, Louisville, Indiana, Kansas State, Arkansas, Kentucky. On paper & on the court are two entirely different things.

Not sure why so many Purdue fans are reacting negatively to this. @JonRothstein said it is going to look “different”. He didn’t say it was going to look “bad”, unless he says that outside of this clip. There’s no denying next year will look very different when they’re losing 4 starters. I fully expect Painter to morph the offense to fit his personnel again, like he always does.

"The era that we have been a part of at Purdue is over." @JonRothstein says Purdue is going to look A LOT different next year.

@RobDauster St. John's beat UConn twice, true. However, they lost to every other top 20 team on their schedule, and some of their quality wins lost steam

@madeformarch The big question for me.. Will Alabama's defense show up? Alabama is one of those teams that has the firepower to reach the final 4, but they lose too many 90-85 games with limited defense

@SethDavisHoops Miami was the lowest seeded team. However, they were voted into the field by the committee sooner. There's the difference. They might have been the 35 at large selected as an example

He did not lie. They are the lowest at large seeded. They were not the last team selected. I guess it depends on what the definition of “in” is. I know this is in the weeds but give them credit for being transparent about the process.

@ConnorAllenNFL Baylor is the D outliner. People show stats that Baylor finished in the top 25, but they tightened defense in the tournament and their transition offense was excellent. As a Purdue alum, l see a lot of that same thing with Purdue. Superior offense, good, not great defense

Your brackets for March Madness shouldn’t be random. Over 95% of NCAA Tournament champions in the last 23 years met BOTH of these criteria:

@SethDavisHoops We go through this every year. The difference in the outcome was Michigan slipping from the 2nd 1 seed to the 3rd. It's not clear if Purdue was the last 2 seed before the game or after. As far as selection, meaningless, as both teams were well into the field

With the software they use it’s very easy for the committee to build contingency brackets. They had a different bracket if Michigan had beaten Purdue. The timing of the game is not the reason the committee arrived at a concision that I personally disagreed with.
Kevin Sweeney@CBB_Central

A-10 needs to get off of the Sunday championship game and finish earlier in week. The main reason VCU could get left out with a loss is that it’s the easiest thing for the committee to do in spite of having a stronger WAB than the bubble. Sunday games put committee in a bind.

@DelphiBrackets I didn't look at your bracket, but the WCC getting 3 teams in is the story . That hasn't happened in over 15 years, and with Gonzaga leaving, probably won't for a while. Santa Clara

@John_Fanta It's exciting for BE fans. However, the game itself has little meaning in the CBB landscape, this year as the BE is down. UCONN has an outside chance at a 1 seed, but it seems like they are behind Florida for sure, and if FL loses, maybe behind Houston with a win over AZ

@ESPNLunardi How close are Alabama and Purdue? If they're close, than H2H should matter. I know 1 data point, but at the same time, the committee doesn't look at record over the L12, which is not good for Purdue. However, if they beat Nebraska tonight, they probably move up

@SethDavisHoops St. Joseph was a 1 seed, and was a legit 1 seed. They reached the Elite 8 and lost to the 2 seed, which l believe was Oklahoma. So, as the 4th 1 seed losing to the 5th or 6th best team overall, no shame. This Miami team has been playing with fire for like 5 games. Not the same

For me, the only suspense is whether Miami Ohio ends up in the First Four, which is now very possible. So interesting that the exact same thing happened to St. Joseph's in 2004 when it went undefeated in the regular season. Lost first game in the A10 tourney by 20 to Xavier.
