The Tigers finished 19-15 last season.

And LSU is paying $105,000 (good MMs almost never command that sum) for HPU to visit Baton Rouge.

Sources: LSU will host High Point as part of its 2026-27 non-conference schedule. The game will be played on either December 18th or 19th at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. This will be the first regular-season game for HPU against a P5 team since 2023-24. #SEC #BigSouth

The pool of at-large bid contenders have not materially increased over that time, particularly with how the NET and scheduling is structured.
I suspect those who tout this data point already know this but continue to make the argument anyhow.
