Happy Valentine’s Day! 💗Our party was lots of fun, thanks to the families who volunteered and donated goodies...

We had lunch together to celebrate today (with lots of silliness & laughter)...perfect!

So impressed with these second graders who chose to meet our reading challenge over the break. 15 of them turned it in last week!

Yellow Springs has Faith in the Flakes. Their #FITF shirts raised $324 for the PTA So nice to be here twice and this time for my winter weather #STEM assembly. I know they are ready for snow days now and after break. @FCPSMaryland @fcpsoperations

Thank you @mashupmath for the 12 Days of Math Challenges. These second graders are loving the first few challenges, and asked for more of them to do over winter break! They require a bit of perseverance...love the growth mindset! #YSES2gether

Then into the planetarium to learn about earth’s changes...and of course, it’s always fun to glow!

Fun field trip this morning! We went on a scavenger hunt to find ESSL animals from 5 continents.

Don’t forget to come back to YSES for Literacy Night tonight at 6:00. Look at these AMAZING literacy baskets to be raffled off to some lucky winners! I hope to see you there! Also, we’ll be kicking off a Read-a-Thon with even more prizes to win.

Some of my favorite moments of the week: writers sharing stories & giving each other feedback; an early morning book share; readers revisiting a text to mark key points for summaries; and a few Ss used their Eagle Bucks to sit in the teacher’s chair for the day! #YSES2gether
