Jonny, but on Lockdown

I'm filled with pride to be in this fortnight's issue of @wireframemag!! Not only because I was on the shelf in Liverpool's WHSmith, but also to be alongside such talented writers as @OllyWrites, @jayplaysthings and @DaMisanthrope

@JamesWright_UK Of course, I was looking specifically for Games Prod stuff, so there might be another avenue I wasn't looking for but you could aim for (e.g. Media, PR, etc)

@JamesWright_UK Unfortunately I had a (fairly extensive) look into this about 6 months ago as I was applying for Junior/Assistant Producer roles, and came up empty :( Pretty disheartening as the "entry level" roles still require experience in QA/animation/Dev, etc...

Stupid question alert. Does anyone know if courses exists for someone wanting a career in games production *outside* of the usual animation, design, programming etc paths?

@Gameonysus Hi Janet! I specialise in guides for XCOM-like tactics games (e.g. this piece for Eurogamer: eurogamer.net/articles/gears…) and digital CCGs ( I did most of GameSkinny's Runeterra coverage: gameskinny.com/games/legends-…) I'm also a big player of tabletop games and digital card games 😇

I love being able to recommend great guides writers to my bosses. @ me if that's you or tag a peer who needs to be doing IGN wikis. I want to be ready with awesome recs the next time we have work available! (thread)

@LJPolintan @PlayRuneterra They were super powerful in beta and needed multiple tomes, wouldn't surprise me if they ended up being the best again

HMRC sent me a letter saying I owe them £7000 in unpaid tax... from 2 years ago... (Their records are incorrect, I think I'd know if I was paid £56k that year!!!) Just the BEST thing to open when you're unemployed during a global crisis 😭😭

@FordJamesGames @teawithphil I had the same happen to mine a few years back (power surge, blew the PSU) Just replacing the PSU with a cheap alternative would be a cheap option to try and assess the damage, that worked for me and hopefully will be all you need bud

@teawithphil Definitely sounds that way. Best bet would be to get it checked out by an IT repair shop if you’re not sure on fully diagnosing it yourself, but most are probs shut due to covid. It’s a shite situation, do you have a console to play and laptop to work from in the meantime?
