i discovered this from studying 5k+ of our clippers' posts
here's what happened:
we had INSANE hooks for a client
got 92% watch rate past the first 5 seconds
BUT
only 2% had a full retention rate (aka made it to the end)
algorithm sees massive drop-off
thinks content is bad
kills distribution
meanwhile shitty hooks actually perform better:
60% watch first 10 seconds
38% complete the video
20% click profile
10% of profile clickers will click on YOUR product link
algorithm sees consistency in conversions and retention
therefore pushes everywhere
why the fuck does this happen??
the autistic math:
losing viewers immediately
is WAY BETTER
than losing them after hooking them
because you filter the gays and are now reaching the perfec target audience
after noticing this i did some experimenting
tested with 5302 clips for a video campaign:
split the clippers apart:
group a: hollywood-level hooks
group b: random guy talking
group a: 12M total views
group b: 4M total views
BUT
GROUP B HAD HIGHER CONVERSIONS LOL
4x more people clicked the profile compared to the perfected hooks
the pattern is clear:
moderate interest throughout beats extreme interest that DIES
