In years from now, web platform has to win against apps alternatives.
What we have seen this years is that the web, is a very powerful platform. And with the advent of the easy-coding, good performance, easy-deploy frameworks (like @nextjs) MUST win.
The convinience of just typing a website in your browser and just access your app is killer againts apps. And with the improvements made for accessing native mobile and desktop hardware from the browser the future is web.
Apple will fight fiercely against this, but eventually I don't think there is an alternative.
Also, with the downfall of Apple in its mobile devices (come on, last iOS update is HORRIBLE) another competitor has yet to come, and I'm 100% sure it will be built with the web in its core.
The future is going to be amazing for web developers.

I have spent the past 30 minutes trying to get a key out of Google Cloud's dashboard so I can query data from Google Sheets. I am not convinced it is even possible to do right now.
