Our new stadium. A statement of intent for the City of Birmingham and the West Midlands, testament to a region that is on the rise.

Nobu Hospitality's founders Robert De Niro, Chef Nobu Matsuhisa and Meir Teper joined developer Salboy in Manchester yesterday to break ground on the 246-metre new Nobu Residences, Hotel, and Restaurant. When it completes in 2031, the skyscraper will become the tallest building in the UK outside of London and offer a Nobu restaurant, a 160-room hotel and 452 residences across its levels. Chef Nobu Matsuhisa opened his first restaurant in Los Angeles in 1987. After partnering with actor Robert De Niro, he opened the first Nobu restaurant in New York in 1994 and has since opened more than 50 restaurants worldwide. The first Nobu Hotel was opened in Las Vegas in 2013. In a joint statement to mark yesterday's groundbreaking, Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper, Nobu Hospitality’s Shareholders, said: "Manchester’s global outlook and dynamic spirit align perfectly with the Nobu brand. We’re proud to bring our signature hospitality, dining and design to the city, and excited to offer both guests and residents an authentic Nobu experience.” Asked for a direct quote, Mr De Niro wasn't entirely sure that we were talking to him. 📷 Salboy
