@robfordmancs (there are probably lots of green voters with labour as their second pref and labour voters with greens as their second prefs but they're never getting transferred)

@robfordmancs I don't think the 2nd preference situation is that surprising given the 1st pref split - the eliminated parties transfers could come from are the tories, restore, reform and 3% lib dems

Interesting - couple of surprises for me: 1. Greens narrowly ahead of Reform for 2nd 2. Greens don’t do any better than Ref on 2nd preference votes 3. Restore ahead of Cons, meaning Cons in fifth
Find Out Now@FindoutnowUK

Greater Manchester mayoral by-election VI: 🔴 Labour: 38% 🟢 Greens: 22% 🟦 Reform UK: 19% ⚫ Restore Britain: 9% 🔵 Conservatives: 8% 🟠 Lib Dems: 3% ⚪ Independent: 1% Labour would beat Greens in second round 64-36. Versus Reform, they'd win 66-34 Implied turnout: 39%

@EdwardAdoo "To address these concerns, we will now implement changes to improve bus journeys on the southern part of Kentish Town Road near the Camden Town tube station in Autumn 2026. We will add a new northbound bus lane to help to keep buses moving more smoothly”

“As expected, some bus journeys that have been diverted via Kentish Town Road are longer, as buses now need to travel further and have been affected by increased traffic on this road and at the Hawley Crescent junction.”

Camden is proposing to EXPAND the pedestrianisation of Camden High Street. could cover more of the wider area. comes with bus priority measures too to speed up diverted buses. looks amazing. consultation here consultations.wearecamden.org/supporting-com…

@DaveF63 from the looks of the person waiting (you can briefly see them if you pause after the coach) there’s a dropped kerb and you wait to the right of the pedestrian crossing

@joncstone Is there a dedicated lane/light sequence for cyclists exiting Chelsea Gate to turn right onto the cycle lane? From the video it appears they'll clash with those turning into the park.

@joncstone It is nice but it hardly seems used. What it has created is grid lock with the new traffic signals, it just causes traffic to back up all the way to the roundabout. You can see the slow moving traffic in the video. Wide pavements for no people, cycle lane empty & traffic jams.

@antlerboy there was an old track on the park side (dunno if there used to be one on the other side too) but it was quite narrow and had since been turned into one-way with wands on the other side added in 2020 for a bit. this is def an upgrade on that

@FranklinVH2 crowded and this kind of thing would be less of an issue. ultimately the people riding like that are more confident and would be fine without infrastructure but someone pootling to work just wont ride in heavy moving traffic without separation

@FranklinVH2 I think one thing that we have atm in London is a few good corridors that have massively induced demand and are so really busy but aren’t necessarily the most direct route for a lot of people. so if you improve the infra on other streets and give more options they’d be less

My hot take is that better infrastructure for cyclists is actually BAD for people picking up cycling as an alternative mode of transport because it suits the Lycra Perverts too much to be pleasant

@ubunt22 @adamtranter in the relevant law electric wheelchairs (and some types of mobility scooter) count as an ‘invalid carriage’ which is its own class of vehicle with a different set of rules (for really obvious reasons)

Humans should not be forced off pavements by delivery robots, but that's exactly what's happening. The people who pay the price are those with the least room to give it up.

@Michael_J_Hil that's not it- it's inspired by Germany's ticket and Germany's economy has been growing slower than the UK. there are many factors including spare capacity, the shape of the NL network (no long distance/reservation trains) +UK has prioritised a £120bn tax cut on petrol since 2010

Seen some UK accounts interacting with this wondering why we don't do something similar. Mostly, it is because the Netherlands is a much richer country with faster growth and much better public finances than us. Poorer countries can afford fewer nice things.
Melissa & Chris Bruntlett@modacitylife

The Netherlands has introduced a €49 monthly ticket for unlimited nationwide train travel—a bold political response to soaring energy costs. When gas prices rise, you can double down on car dependency or provide attractive alternatives. The Dutch are (again) picking the latter.

The state of this cycle lane! I wonder if the ice cream vans' takings will be more than the 3 points and £100 fine the Met Police will issue their registered keepers?

@dj_halling @ChaponaBike123 I don’t think they’ve been getting points for it as it’s generally been enforced as a civil parking offence. They’re there on the double reds every day of the year and since at least Covid sometimes multiple vans
