@BeetfarmerDave This thread has been helpful, we’ve never lived on the farm but only even been a couple miles away. I am looking to get out of the farmstead I rent and have always wanted to be on the farm but I’m starting to realize getting a house on the farm is more then I thought

I don’t live on my farm, it’s not as convenient and I wish my kids could be more exposed to farming But when times are leaner it makes me and the banker both happy I don’t have a home tied to a business as an anchor asset

How much do you budget for a hopper bottom trailer? Wilson and Timpte seem to depreciate for a few years then stay stagnant. Hate to spend double on a trailer what the truck cost but I don't want a wore out junker either. Thinking a 43'x66"x96" with electric tarp and air ride.

@rhofford So just because a young farmer wants to start farming that means established farmers should bow out quit farming for him and give up their land? Maybe young farmer should start working for some of these farmers if he can’t make it without people giving their land up.
