A young British couple has been arrested in Turkey for attempting to smuggle suitcases full of cannabis into the UK. Holly Cooper and her 20-year-old boyfriend Taylor Johnson were reportedly arrested shortly after landing in Istanbul on a flight from Thailand. They were taken aside for questioning while attempting to catch their connecting flight to London. Following a court hearing, they were formally arrested and transferred to a jail where they might face a year-long wait for their trial. Furthermore, the couple lacks their own lawyers and will be represented by public defenders. If convicted, Ms Cooper and Mr Johnson face a minimum sentence of 10 years, but it could be as long as 30 years.
