The biggest risk to small truckload motor carriers isn't rate - its fuel. The last trucking bloodbath was in 19 when truckstop diesel stayed in a $.14/gallon range. Since the start of 2022, truckstop diesel is +$1.86/gallon. Carriers pay for fuel immediately but collect in 40.
